objective vs. subjective rabbit hole
I do not hope to persuade you. Only to share what worked for me and invite you to try it.
Your thoughts on my quest for new speakers
I agree with @russbutton. I built the LX521.4 and never need to go speaker shopping again. The question of "which speaker do I want to try next?" is over for me....regardless of price.
Schiit Freya+(Plus)
I have owned the Saga+, Freya+ and (currently) the Prima Luna Dialog Premium. The Schiit pre-amps were fantastic and served my needs for a couple of years. During that time I woudn’t have heard a difference in an A/B comparison between Schiit or P...
BlueSound Stinks(!), anyone?
Every time I am forced to upgrade my BluOS player software or the application, the new version breaks. What used to be perfectly functional now doesn’t work and I can count on a few hours of messing around and rolling back to previous versions to ...
Danny Richie "fixes" the Linkwitz Arion loudspeaker
I was fortunate enough to hear the Orion's in the Linkwitz’s rental cabin in Sea Ranch and later the LX521.4 and LXmini in Linkwitz’s home in Corte Madera. Many people have tried to “improve” the Orion which is fine. Many submitted their design mo...
Danny Richie "fixes" the Linkwitz Arion loudspeaker
+1 russbutton. I agree whole heartedly. I bought Orion 3.3’s and built LX521 baffles, LXmini’s and LXsubs. I use both active analog and digital crossovers, all ATI amplification, tube hybrid preamp, Yggdrasil and Berkeley Audio Alpha DAC’s, Synerg...
Why are there so many wooden speakers?
Hello Kenjit; Can you post some photos of your system?  Just curious about the speakers you have chosen for yourself right now.
Why perfect speakers dont exist the truth revealed
Kenjit; Can you post some photos of the speakers/system you listen to at the moment?
Who Here is Vertical Bi-Amping?
Check out http://www.linkwitzlab.com/I have all three of his last systems. Bought the Orion, built the LXmini and the LX521.4. One feature they share is the following equipment architecture: source>pre-amp>(crossover/equalizer)>amplifie...
Best CD player under $2000
Any CD player you buy will be lower in quality than a Tidal HiFi stream. Tidal HiFi is loss-less so your cd player would have to play each disk with 100% perfection every time to achieve the same outcome. For $500 you can get a BlueSound Node 2i a...
What Do You Think . . . and How Does It Work?
@mickeyb You don’t need 3 amps. What amp were you listening to with the Orion’s you heard? What you do need is at least 3 channels per side for a total of 6 minimum. You could use the amp that Linkwitz recommends on his website which is the ATI AT...
Blusound app for Windows, upgrade issues
I had the same issue two months ago (Windows 10). Started a ticket, got the direct full install file and was listening to music again in less than one hour. So in my case they resolved it quickly. What bothers me is that they have known for some t...
Religious music for less than devout
An inversion of the question, it’s a wonderful track by Vienna Teng called “Hymn of Acxiom”. She sings it in a religious choral gospel style but it’s really a hymn about Google and ‘Big Brother’ surveillance. She won the thirteenth annual Indepe...
Tweaks - An Honest Discussion
+ebanksmsEar/brain systems differ and while technical measurements may be identical, experiences often are not. I’ll try to contribute a little to what millercarbon is saying. Imagine a system that has three removable or tweakable components that ...
IM Distortion, Speakers and the Death of Science
Erik says “The idea of modeling multiple non-linear systems at once to derive a master model of behavior could probably be its’ own thing.” It certainly is. I recently finished a little project where I applied a machine-learning neural network mod...
