Dallas (Fort Worth) Audiophile Club - we meet every month or every other month
I run an audiophile group in DFW, we call ourselves DFW audiophile club aka DFWAC.
We have 6 core members who make it to every meet, we have 4-5 others who cycle in and out.
We just met and had a great time, we listened to a pair of Wilson Alexandria X2S2, Boulder 3060 amp, Boulder 2110 preamp, DCS Vivaldi full stack including DAC/upsampler/clock/transport, with dual JL Audio F113 subs, and full Transparent Magnum Opus speaker wire and interconnects and Tara Labs power cables.
We usually meet once a month or every other month, we usually meet on a Wednesday at 6p, then dinner at 8p, hang out until about 11p.
It's a great group, we have become friends. We have been meeting for about a year.
PM me if you want to join or show off your system.

Going to be moving to the DFW area in less than a month. I was the manufacturing engineer for 64Audio, working onna patent for a new high end earphone design and left to start my own buisness building and designing custom home theater systems. Looking forward to chatting with you all and I will be sending a PM about joining the group to stay in the loop about future meetups. |
I'll give another vote for Vu with Hi-End Theater and Audio. He has Solid Steel and I think he carries Salamander as well. Side note for everyone else, they are moving into a new facility that looks like it's going to be really cool! They have one room up and running now with more to come. I got an early look because I ordered a new record cleaner from him recently and went to pick it up in person and check out the new shop. Vu is great to work with as well. Audio Concepts - probably the largest in stock selection to view in person for racks... and most other things they carry. Certainly worth checking out. Lastly I'll add Skip with Audio Thesis as well. As far as racks go I believe he only carries Star Sound Technologies, but those racks are a really unique solution and a good solution to consider if you're shopping at that price point. He might also be worth a call in general. He has a lot of gear in and out, so you never know what he might have in stock beyond his normal brands. |
Hello pcchip! Our audio club hasn't been meeting for group listening sessions since the start of COVID. We do have a pretty active group and keep in close contact with each other. You may want to reach out to joey_v as he is our fearless leader and he can give you a better idea of when we might be able to meet again. Jon |
Audio Concepts, a really great local dealer, carries Quadraspire, Salamander, and HRS. One of our members is a dealer that owns "The Audioguy" in Lewisville that I believe carries Mapleshade racks. You can certainly call him and see if he is going to be opening back up next week. I'm sure other members will chime in with recommendations as well. As far as the audio club itself, we have what I would consider a very active club(pre-COVID). Joey does a tremendous job organizing the group activities. The meetings I've attended have allowed me to hear some amazing systems, but more importantly the guys in the group are all outstanding individuals and are extremely helpful for us with more modest systems looking for advice. I hope we get a chance to meet soon. Jon S |
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I am new to Dallas and looking for some recommendations on audio stores to work with in the area and this thread came up when I searched Dallas. I’m sure all are closed right now (Thanks COVID) but in particular I’m looking to get some equipment racks/shelves. Feel free to DM me to avoid hijacking this topic! |
Next meeting is December 12, thursday. This would be meeting #16. PM me if interested. Club is definitely getting full. If you would like to showcase your set up, we can do that too. I can set up the meet, you don't have to do anything but show off your system. You don't even have to come to other meets if you're too busy. Just let me know. |
@mavs Lone Star Audio Fest will occur the first weekend of June, 2020 in Dallas at the Embassy Suites Dallas Park Central. It's not a big show, but there is always some good gear there. http://lonestaraudiofest.com/ |
Joey, You are also looking at a person who owns such vintage receivers like the "silver face" Pioneer of the 70's and early 80's SX1250, SX3900, SX3800 to name a few. Right now with so many pairs of speakers that are now 20-30 year of age, it's time for a restro-mod of the speakers beyond just recaps. Hopefully, using, SoundEasy and OmniMic will help lead the way to better speaker rebuilds. So, how many club members rebuild their amps/preamps, receivers, and speakers? What type of format is the club? Any system presentations to club members? |
