Vfet / SIT Amplifiers
@atmasphere curious what you think about the idea that a preamp with relatively modest 10db of gain (Microzotl MZ2) paired with the SIT-3, itself a low gain amp, might be contributing to the issues I’m having with the SIT-3. Is that likely to be a...
Vfet / SIT Amplifiers
You guys are making me jealous I can't get more out of the SIT-3 in my system! My speakers are 95db efficient and are 8 ohms. I tried dropping resistors in parallel to reduce the impedance down to 4 ohms but honestly didn't notice much of a differe...

What is the Silliest Accessory You Have Ever Seen.
I’m only slightly ashamed to admit that I recently bought a Schumann frequency generator, albeit one of the cheap models.  I’m always willing to be wrong, and hey, I bought it, but it does seem to me to be one of the more scientifically dubious tw...
Subwoofer for nearfield Omega Compact Alnico Monitors setup
@doraymon I understand.  The T/zero is a good unit for its size.  Good luck with it!
Vfet / SIT Amplifiers
I recently acquired a First Watt SIT-3 and I like my F2-J much better. I know I am in the minority in not loving the SIT-3.It may be that the SIT-3 doesn’t like the impedance swings of my particular speakers.  Not saying it’s not a good amp, just ...
Subwoofer for nearfield Omega Compact Alnico Monitors setup
@doraymon: I have both the T/zero and the T/5i, and would have to recommend the T/5i. I bought it precisely because the Tzero, while performing well for its size, just doesn’t go low enough to really satisfy with the Omegas. It’s a 6.5" driver and...
Subwoofer for nearfield Omega Compact Alnico Monitors setup
I recently paired a REL T/5i with my Super Alnico Monitor XRS, and while it took some effort to set it up, I am now pleased with the integration. I have the crossover and volume set super low, and the effect is to give a subtle but perceptible "li...
Subwoofers with current source First Watt?
Just to close the loop on this after hearing back from Nelson Pass. @imhififan was right, actually, although I agree that we should be careful not to generalize about First Watt topologies - but like the SIT-2, the F2 is a phase inverting amp, and...
Are you getting ridiculous offers from new members
I just had a listing where I got multiple offers from different users that had the same address, but each with incomplete or partial names.  It was very strange and they felt like scam offers.  I declined them, of course.  I've been selling here f...
Audioquest DBS System
I've used Columbia RCAs for the past three years or so and never had to change the batteries; I do check them occasionally.  There is nothing you need to do to turn the DBS "on"; if the batteries aren't dead, it's working.

Stanley Clarke’s original motion picture soundtrack for "Halston" on Qobuz. My god, there is some audiophile ear candy on this record; and it will give your subwoofer a chance to show that it’s working! An eclectic mix of styles, from straight jazz...
Optimize Stereo Experience - NYC Studio
Greetings fellow NYCer! I have spent most of the past 15 years trying the best I can to optimize my listening situations in various small apartments, so I know what you’re going through. I actually installed a murphy bed in the 2nd bedroom of my c...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Happy Birthday!  Hardly any misses on King of America, a real classic.  I rate it right up there with Imperial Bedroom.
