Need New Speakers
Yes, unfortunately she passed away last July so that's why I have them now. :(Thanks for everyone's input! I think the S8es will probably be the way to go. I'm sure the Callistos are a great speaker but the style is too modern for our decor.
Which DVD/CD solution?
looking for preowned and will spend up to $2500. I'd love to go with the Marantz DV9600 or the DV7001 but Marantz USA has decided that we only need the cheesy black and gold color combo.I forgot to add Meridian to my list as well.
Loud Hum from DNA 0.5
I'd have to turn up the system fairly loud to not notice it.

sorry about the double post...my 1st one didn't show up at first.
Loud Hum from DNA 0.5
I just discovered that the coax for the tv was still in contact with the connector on the cable box. After removing it completely, the hum went away. Apparently, I need to get the cable TV grounding filter.

I stand corrected! Thank you so much Steve! I had disconnected the cable tv from the back of the cable box but when I pushed it back on its shelf, the cable was still in slight contact with the connector. I realized that if I removed the coax cabl...
Loud Hum from DNA 0.5
In reading over the counter point article, the DNA is the only component with 3 prongs. The DVD player, AV receiver and TV/Cable box only have 2. Even with the cable tv disconnected from the wall, the hum persists.

I tried disconnecting everything from the receiver other than the DNA and the hum is still present. The AV receiver only has a 2 prong plug. I can try getting the converter for the DNA to see if that solves the problem.

Also, I should clarify that the hum is loud enough to make the amp useless. And regarding the preout noise, prior to repair, there was no hum and prior to the DNA 0.5, the Rotel amp produced no hum.

Also, I'm using Vandersteen 2Ces so I can't look at the drivers.

Thanks for the input. Yes, it's the same receiver used prior to the repair. The system was essentially untouched other than using the receiver to power the speakers while i was waiting for the repair. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday to call...
Cheap amp $300 to use with Vandersteen 2ces
Thanks for the info Ls6454. What would you say that the difference were between the Parasound and the McCormack?
Cheap amp $300 to use with Vandersteen 2ces
From the responses and the search I have done with the McCormack/Vandersteen combo, I think I'll try the DNA 0.5.In addition and in reply to Pragmatist, it's not that the Rotel doesn't sound ok with the Vandersteens, but I'm sure for not much mone...

Pragmatist, I've been living with the Rotel for 8 years already.

Any idea how the Classe CA100 would compare to the DNA 0.5?
