Bi-amping for me?
It sounds as if you might want to put a tube amp on the high frequency section of your speakers. This could work out fine as long as you match up the gains like Ligi has mentioned. You could take the higher gain amp (I assume the higher power one)...
Any DIYer s out there ?
To start out, this is a great thread. The following is only my opinion on some of the above ideas. I really want to continue to exchange these ideas and discuss any and all implications. If this leads to some heated discussions, then I say GREAT. ...
Any DIYer s out there ?
Rjf, a long time ago I built a Marshal Leach pre-pre amp. It was battery powered and was quite good. Dr. Leach has a web site and I think the schematic is still on it. I also had a Daniel. I can clearly remember how good Cat sounded with that rig ...
Any DIYer s out there ?
Sean, I noticed in another post that you are an EE. I am also but the twist in my case was the degree was an attempt to understand the reproduction of music. To that end EVERY part of my system has the DIY touch. BTW I had a Pass A40 for a few hou...

Mobile Fidelity CD s
Vegasears, I almost wanted to say something about the box set "Shine On" that was mastered by Doug Sax. I bet you copies are from that remastering. I believe they are clearly better than the MoFi.

Are Audiophiles Obsessive Nuts?
I am obsessive / compulsive to the MAX. I hear differences in every aspect of an audio system. In an attempt to understand the reasons for the differences I went to school and got a EE degree. All the profesors dismissed me as crazy because of the...
Cartridge for an old GRACE 707?
I had a 707 and really liked it. It was a great arm for the money. I used a ADC xlm that I liked the sound but it had very high complance and was touchy. I also used an Shure conical that was ok for the money.I was and still am on a beer budget!
Bi-WIRE CABLE - NEED ADVICE
Abstract7, I agree about stereo seperation being better in vertical bi-amp but what about frequency seperation in that configuration where the bass notes can modulate the power supply causing a disturbance in the high freq. I also agree about shor...
Tri-Wire Cables
It makes sense to me that the sound should be better. When a speaker is bi / tri wired only the current flowing into that speaker flows thru the wires. This will prevent interaction of the current from the speakers inside the cable. In fact one co...
Bi-WIRE CABLE - NEED ADVICE
You may want to consider using different cable for the top & bottom of each side. Some cables are more noted for bass and ...
Rate the Audiophile Publications
I would like to express my opinion about the trend in these magazines. I remember the day when TAS did not get advertising. The magazine was pricey but that was required so that it could be published. Now the price of the magazine i down and the n...
Compare the Nautilus Tweeter to DIY
I have not heard the 803. I have owned a couple of models (cheaper) of B&W of which I liked. I cannot compare directly to the 803 but I really do like the Morel MDT33. It is every bet the equal of the B&W's that I am familiar with. It is a...
jensen capacitors
Welborne labs has the jensen line. Check to see if they can get you caps from stock. Are these the real deal or what? I have not got to play with them.Chris
