Squeezebox touch, Apple TV or Apple Airport Expres
If you want to stick to the Moon 100D you have three options:1) USB from iMac2) Toslink optical from iMac3) Add a streamer like Airport express or Squeezebox(1) and (2) should be similar in this case as the 100D's USB implementation is Class 1, so...
What's next after Dynavector 20XL?
Me too was very happy with the 20XL after having moved up from a Denon DL103. It has some of the Denon's hard to find qualities but with more extended frequency extremes.I then traded up for the Lyra Kleos. Although it is definitely more refined w...
Any opinions on the AMR Digital Processor 777 Dac?
Having a direct USB implementation inside the DAC is superior (in theory) to an external box like the Stello U3. Converted USB can go direct to chip set as i2s without having the need to get converted from SPDIF again. SPDIF as you know is jitter-...
Any opinions on the AMR Digital Processor 777 Dac?
Kschiu,My two cents here re 16-bit NOS mode. The AMR 777 is excellent with high rez, but I wouldn't say it is that much better than competitors. The mode that sets it apart is the 16-bit NOS mode. I had several NOS DACs before, all of them would gi...
Any opinions on the AMR Digital Processor 777 Dac?
Cmalak,Yes I still have it at my office and using a Mac mini driving it direct to power amp (GamuT D200). Does not have any other source connected so couldn't comment on how good it functions as a preamp. It replaced a Weiss DAC202 in the same sys...
Any opinions on the AMR Digital Processor 777 Dac?
It is one of the best DAC I've tried to date. At first it was almost a little soft and perhaps a bit too glowy, but after a month everything snaps up very well.
is there a best music player on the computer?
I second "JPlay" for Windows too!For Mac I feel that Amarra still the best but with high costs. Otherwise Audirvana is now the best albeit not quite stable yet. PureMusic and Fidelia seems to be almost equal.
Bricasti M1 - where is the music
From my (limited) experience, different filters affect presence, decay and naturalness of the instruments, but not so much about pace and rhythm.
Best DAC under 2k US ?
From your list, if you want to keep it minimalistic, I would go for the Calyx. If you want more inputs and perhaps volume control, Bel Canto 2.5 is nice. It's a very highly competitive price bracket, and many others to choose from for instance the...
wadia 151 dac/amp
The amp is 50 watt class-D and I would think that Wadia would put some protection circuit in there. The volume is in the digital domain, so the higher the number - the better the theoretical resolution, given that you don't clip it by going too lo...
Bricasti M1 - where is the music
Funny enough, I spent an afternoon last week auditioning the M1, compared with the Alpha DAC series 2. Both are excellent, natural and well extended into both frequency extremes. The Alpha however has an edge with pace and rhythm. Felt more enjoya...
Solid State Phono Pre-amp Recommendations
Sutherlands are neutral and very good at their price points. Heard good things about the Parasound JC-3 but its engine is based on OpAmps (although carefully selected by John Curl) so I'm not sure about its long term value. So are the ASR mini bas...
Sutherland PH3D
It's the phono stage that I decided to keep even after upgraded to more expensive ones. It's very neutral and can boogie very well. It doesn't have the sort of detail or liveliness of the dearer ones but nevertheless very very good at its price po...
Whest P.30R, P.30RDT and P.30RDT SE
Just decided to settle on a demo Esoteric E-03. The thing is I have two turns. The Whests have one input and adjusting the load is not as easy. I can then sell my ASR mini basis exclusive to part finance for it. Let's see how it goes and if I'm no...
What's your experience with Fidelia?
My impression is that it's cystal clear and well-defined, but may not be as "rounded" nor "organic" as PureMusic or Audirvana. Imaging is superb. Upsampling is probably the best there is (using iZotope engine), but you may not hear the benefits wh...
