Replacement for Shindo
I've owned lots of Shindo gear. Don Better has a Montille 391 available right now. There are lots of discussion threads on what amps are "comparable" to Shindo but be warned its a pandora's box…..everyone has their opinion.
OCD mickey website and negativity.
I generally agree with what hilde45 said. I would add, Mickey is a refreshing alternative to the "everything sounds great if they advertise with us" magazines and the "only measurements can tell the truth" people out there. He has strong opinions ...
Does it make sense to "ignore low ball offers"?
@elrod - yeah I agree with that. You respond and are open to another offer. My only difference is I give him a counteroffer. If he doesn't respond or gives me another stupid low offer then its over.
Does it make sense to "ignore low ball offers"?
@mitch2 - You say: "I certainly understand why others choose not to respond to low offers." Why do think it is they don't respond?  The negotiation has to start somewhere.  If the potential buyer continues to make stupid low offers then its time t...
Does it make sense to "ignore low ball offers"?
@roxy54 - Yeah, I agree if the offer is 30% of the asking price thats ridiculous but I would still make at least one counteroffer to see if I can get the item sold.  @antigrunge2  - there is no "god ordained right" to much anything in this world....
Does it make sense to "ignore low ball offers"?
@kota1 - Yes, I know people "ignore low balls". But why? Thats the point of the discussion
The best plug in filter ever!
Great. Thanks!
The best plug in filter ever!
@rsf507 - Sounds of Silence doesn't show them on their website. Like you say they must be out of stock. I did a general search and it seems The Cable Company sells them. Not sure where @ozzy got his but the Telos Resonators do seem fairly rare (pr...
The best plug in filter ever!
@rsf507 and @ozzy - where did you purchase the Telos Resonator? Their website doesn't show any US distributors. Thanks
The best plug in filter ever!
@ozzy - I'm really into resonators. The SR Black Box is nothing more (and nothing less) than a resonator array for the lower frequencies. It helps distribute or "break-up" the bass nodes in standing waves. It's easy to hear the difference when in ...
The best plug in filter ever!
@recklesskelly - I've had LOTS of tweaks in and out of my system for years. Ones that didn't work out so well were the early fuses (red and black) from SR. They actually made my system sound too forward and zingy. The later fuses, especially the p...
The best plug in filter ever!
I’ve now have two Purons in the same wall outlet that feeds my Puritan 156 line conditioner. (Go to my system page if you want to see a picture of the outlet adapter I used.) Two Purons are definitely better that one. The soundstage has improved f...
The best plug in filter ever!
I added a Puron to the wall outlet that feeds my Puritan 156. The improvement was instantaneous. Everything is more textured with a slightly bigger soundstage. The bass also seems a little deeper. After 48 hours of being in the system the sound re...
Speaker impedance and sensitivity
@voodoochillin - Yes, I think you are thinking about this correctly. For instance, the Harbeth P3ESR has a sensitivity of 83 db. The math shows you would need 250 watts at a listening position of 10 feet to produce 100db of sound with that speaker...
Using battery power to go off the City's power grid
I'm going to drop off this thread for a while. I do think there are advantages to going off the grid to power our home stereos and, obviously, I like the quality and ease of use of the Bluetti products but that doesn't mean there aren't better sol...
