inexpensive preamp for Ayre V3 with Green Mountain Drew wrote: "Do you know if the 7e is much different from the 7?".Well, I had my AX-7 and CX-7 upgraded to "e" status at the same time so I can't disentangle the contribution of each piece but . . . the upgrade is definitely worthwhile (although I...
inexpensive preamp for Ayre V3 with Green Mountain Drewh1, My suggestion is to go with an AX-7e. Check out this system: http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?vopin&1196391062I've communicated with this audiophile and his AX-7e has plenty of power to drive his GMAs (though note his room is sm...
Any experience with Ayre L5-Xe Power Conditioner? I use an L-5 with my AX-7 and CX-7 (I think neither of them include the internal Ayre Conditioner). I posted a review on AA. In short, it made my system more resolved and liquid; a nice improvement.
Any modification on Ayre C-5Xe last three years? http://blog.stereophile.com/ces2009/have_another_hit_of_fresh_ayre/
Is there life after a KXR? Help I don't get it. You say the KX-R is your "ultimate preamp" but you can't afford to keep it. You have it for sale, asking about $13K. Your budget for a replacement is $10K. Looking at the rest of your system, it strikes me as odd that the $3K diffe...
Best Solid State for Avalon Isis "A company which is solvent, established, reliable, and with good customer support is important, with preference for an American manufacturer."I'm surprised Ayre MX-Rs were not on your short list. Sounds like you made your choice. Happy listening ...
vandy 2ce mark 2 or gallo 3.1 I haven't heard the Gallo - sorry for detouring your thread. I was interested 'til I found out where it's made. I *strongly* prefer to support companies that manufacture in my country (now more than ever).I own the Vandy Sig IIs and I think they c...
$ 2500 ....Stay with Vandersteens ??...what else ? >>>Rufipennis I'm not knocking the 2Ce Sigs llNo worries - I was only responding to Adam18 a couple of posts up. Not sure how you got the idea I thought you were "knocking the 2Ce Sigs ll".
$ 2500 ....Stay with Vandersteens ??...what else ? >>>how do the mid-range and tweeter drivers in the 2CE Sig./II compare to those in the 3A Sig. ? The 2ce Sig IIs and 3A Sigs are *identical* in the mid-range and tweeter! With the latest iteration of the 2s, you only give up a bit of bass...
Problem with Ayre C-7xe CD player? Absolutely you should call Ayre (ask for Michael). They're known to have some of the best customer support in the business - find out for yourself.
$ 2500 ....Stay with Vandersteens ??...what else ? I haven't heard everything but, with a budget of $2500 (new), I am unaware of anything as good as the 2ce Sig IIs. In fact there is nothing else at that price point that at all piques my interest. If I ever upgrade, I'll be looking at speakers >...
Power conditioner with Ayre amps The L-5 made a nice difference in my Ayre sytem, also.
Ayre AX-7F ... F ????? Betcha a nickel it's referring to the serial number. When I had my AX-7 upgraded to "E" status, they added an "M" at the end of the serial number. My guess is the unit in question is not an E version.
Vandersteen 2ce Signatures vs 2ce Signature II I own the Sig IIs and have only heard the "plain" Sigs one time, several years ago, so I can't offer the comparison you're looking for. I can say, however, that the Sig IIs are very nearly as good as the 3A Sigs in a smaller, more affordable packa...
