Does the Pioneer Dv-563a have Burr Brown DAC?
I bet it does. They're regular $150 DVD players have them, so I don't see why these wouldn't.
What the best S/PDIF coaxial digital cable?
Based on my equipment (EVS Millenium DAC 2 and modded Sony transport) and taste, I preferred the $80ish Bolder digital cable to Ric's EVS cable, Cardas Lightning 15, Acoustic Zen MC2, Apogee, and Elco. It just sounded more "right" in every way to ...
Traveling Wilburys? What gives?
If you have a turntable, it usually $7-$15 ish on LP.
Waiting for Columbus -- Live? Maybe Not. Comments?
The original release of DUke Ellingotn's "Live at Newport" was essentially re-recorded in an NYC studio due to some recording problems. The most recent CD release of this album uses a recently discovered 2nd source tape in combination with the ori...
New Vinyl Playback Technology
It's not that new...I remember hearing about it ten years ago or so. Based on what people have said here and at Audio Asylum, they have flaws a plenty. Do a search at Audio Asylum and you'll find some info.
CD Player modifications- Improved Sound?
Hi Beatlebum,You can check out modwright.com for some info on his pricing for other players. That should give you an idea. As far as opening the sound goes, that will probably depend on the mods done and the parts used. From my experience with mod...
CD Player modifications- Improved Sound?
A talented modifier could probably improve any player, but certain players can benefit more due to the quality of their DACs, etc. FOr example, Stan Warren told me I'd be better off having a cheap Pioneer w/Burr Brown DACs modified than my Pioneer...
Need advice on interconnects: make a difference?
I am not familiar with the quality of most of your components (though I am familiar with the brands), but I think your system would be capable of letting you hear the differences. This is my theory...Vampire is a major wholesale source of bulk wire...
Beatles albums on MFSL CD's
Most likely they are CDs recorded from the Mo-Fi LPs and pressed by a CD plant...possibly in Japan, or anywhere else (or maybe burned on someone's computer somewhere?). The sound quality *could* be good if the process was done well, but they're ex...
Headphone I can stand for more than 1 hour
I agree about the HD600's. If you can't stand those, you probably won't be able to stand any headphones. I don't think the Grado 325's are too warm, but they are a little uncomfortable. The HD600 are more evenly balanced and very comfortable.
Which type of tube monos for biamping?
Check out Rogue...I think they might have some in that range (used??).
Pink Floyd fans, Limited Ed CD Hybrid disc
Hi Eagle...the MoFi version is probably softer because it hasn't been compressed as much in the masterng. Despite their faults, that was one of the areas where MoFi usually got it right. And Ben...the article that I mentioned above was in an HT mag...
Pink Floyd fans, Limited Ed CD Hybrid disc
I read an article/interview about the guy who did the new disc re-master. Based on what he said, the new one should sound better. Like the late Beatles and other late 60s stuff, DOTM was supposedly recorded by linking multiple 4-track recorders to...
Other "silver" spk cables.....
TG AUdio, Luminous Audio, etc. Search the archives and you'll probably find them all.
Problems with my Berning ZH270
Hi George,Once again...take your room dimensions, plug them into one of the speaker set-up ratios (Bobby's or Cardas') and see where the speakers AND you should be placed...ideally...in your particular room. The above post is right in asking where...
