What vintage speaker might you use today
I have a pair of Advent Legacies from the 80s Jensen era. Definitely midfi, but non-fatiguing and very good bass. Somewhat veiled and polite, but ideal for used $1 classic rock Lps. Surprisingly, I put on some vintage "smoker" sax jazz and they so...
Artists' lps that don't get the respect deserved
Somebody has to get their hearing checked. Stewart is a legendary vox. His material is questionable at times.

RIP Scott Weiland
Saw STP in 7th St Entry in early 90s before they blew up. One of my top 10 shows all time. His first solo recording 12 bar blues is criminally underrated.
If you could have only one Christmas album/CD, which one?

Etta James - Mono vs. Stereo
The 'Tell Mama' complete sessions and the Chessbox both sound good to me (on CD). Anybody chime in about orig Mama Lp quality?
Rock with strings
Well, I dove into Camel "Snow Goose". This is alot better than I anticipated. Great production, playing, etc. Evidently this is based on a novella which I'm unfamiliar with and that will probably remain unchanged. No matter, a new gem discovered. ...

Gene Simmons says the rock business is dead
Kiss and Cooper both captured audiences with a "shock and awe" approach that incorporated gimmicks and visual tricks. Although on first listen maybe not a revelation, but Coopers' band was highly musical with above average musical chops. Kiss was ...
Led Zeppelen and Dire Straits Japanese SHM CD's
I'm a fan of the SHM technology. Amazing clarity and presence.
Gene Simmons says the rock business is dead
To be fair, Kiss was a live spectacle. It took a dbl live Lp (albeit doctored) to break them, but they really pioneered for better or worse what we now as a modern stadium show, minus the LCD/led screens. Their use of pyrotechnics, lights, and vol...
Gene Simmons says the rock business is dead
Well, from his era, where Kiss had lunchboxes, action figures, comic books, and coffins, and anything else they could exploit, yes. Gene would sell his mother to turn a dime. From.a purely marketing/merchandizing angle, Kiss were very innovative. S...

Anybody listen to avant-garde? Um, no. Pass.
Rock with strings
Getting into the 80s, but Echoe and the Bunnymen's Ocean Rain is predominantly string laced...Killing Moon obviously the pinnacle. Does get a bit monotonous over an entire Lp but I'm nitpicking... It's a unique recording.
