Upgrade advice needed
As a Marantz PM-15S2 owner myself, the great thing I have found about Marantz reference series integrateds is that they stop the dreaded upgrade spiral.  At least for me.I would say your PMS3 would be a good match as you move up the Focal ladder t...
Good match for Rega Brio-R
IMO, your going about it the wrong way.  Usually one get the speakers first, as they are the only component you can actually hear, and then one finds a suitable amplifier to properly drive them. But it seems you already have the Brio and are locked...
Floorstanding towers
The HALO is a good amp that is capable of driving most speakers available today regardless of impedance.  So there are literally hundreds more that can be recommended. All the speakers you have heard so far have metal tweeters.  So why not go out a...
Is your cartridge toast...maybe yes, maybe no??
Not much ever goes wrong with a cartridge - they will last a very long time so I wouldn't worry about the cartridge body.  If the cartridge has a user replaceable stylus, it is the stylus that wears - not the cartridge.   Typical life of a MM styl...
Sonus Faber vs Focal and maybe even Dynaudio or PSB
I have moved up to considering the Arial 926. Is this speaker also "old" in the Focal line The Aria line is much more recent being introduced around 2014 and is still current.  It sits right in the middle of their different ranges for HiFi speaker...
Floor Standing Speakers That Would Sound Good With the NAD Integrated Amplifier.
Thanks for letting us know which NAD amp you have - the big one at 150 wpc into 8 or 4 ohms.  That leaves dozens and dozens to choose from that your NAD will properly drive.  And they all sound different!  Speakers are way too subjective for anyon...
Floor Standing Speakers That Would Sound Good With the NAD Integrated Amplifier.
3 grand buys a lot of speakers and there are many dozens of new models to choose from.  Is there anywhere you can go and start auditioning? Also, which NAD integrated do you have?  They make many different integrated amps at all different power out...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE
Just a quick post to say thanks for sharing the evolution of your TT journey balboahu.Yours is the kind of post I like to read.  Someone who comments and makes a decision based on three quality components of the same type that you have owned, in t...
Sonus Faber vs Focal and maybe even Dynaudio or PSB
I think your on the right track selecting the speakers first and then an amp to properly drive them.  An amp is a much easier purchase determined by what speakers you have.Since you are familiar with how your B&W's sound, I would say the Focal...
Now this brings a new meaning...
It also provides a comfortable place to sit back, relax, and enjoy some coffee or tea, which are complimentary.  What?  No magazines to read while visiting the Schiitr?
how is this possible
Remember what P.T. Barnum said.
strengths and weaknesses
I have heard both and I think they are both very fine loudspeakers. But I am not in the market for new speakers.  I assume you are though because you posed the question. So the more important question is what do you think?  Which one sounded best to...
Recommend a budget floor standing speaker less than $1,000
Just noticed that you already floated a prior near identical ballon first re: bookshelves instead of floor-standers .Yep, a post that generated 3 plus pages without the OP committing to anything. So my advice to him in this thread, will be exactly ...
Integrated vs Separates, New vs Used - Rogue Audio, Simaudio, McIntosh??? Input Needed!
+1 gdnrbob! Speakers first as they will be the ultimately responsible for the final sonic outcome from your system - from all sources. Kef LS50’s aren’t the only bookshelf speaker to be mounted high enough to keep little probing fingers away. Besi...
Wrapping my head around MC carts. HELP!!!
Having had both, I wouldn't say that tonality differs that much.  There are very musical MM and HOMC's out there that offers superb tonality. But I have found that LOMC's are much more accurate with the ability to extract more musical detail due to...
