How do you respond to this question?
Because frankly classical music reproduction simply breaks apart with digital. Even with stellar digital front end.
"Against design"
Phusis, thanks for the OMA link. The speakers and Stands sure look very impressive and sculpture like and meticulous . Kudos to the designer in breaking the mold and going 'against design'. I would be very interested to know what it costs and more...

Opinions - Best Sound at T.H.E. Newport 2013 Show?
The room with the UHA tape deck and Gauder Akusitk speakers and Electronics (SS) The UHA RtoR is sure something else. For SS the sound was outstanding. So was the Ayon's monoblock and Lamm+dc10 on the rear left of the same roomNola Micro impressed...
Thoughts from THE Show, is $29k the new $10k?
Almost all the rooms with UHA RTR sounded really really good. How I missed the MBL room is beyond me but the best one was the room with that German solid state electronics and speakers driven by UHB. The same room where on left there was the Ayon ...
Brooks Berdan LTD Monrovia California
When I asked Scott, wasn't Brian an owner/General Manager before he left (?), his answer was no, Brian was just an hourly employee. Not sure what he meant by that or what is the true story behind change in ownership. I am rather curious now.
Brooks Berdan LTD Monrovia California

Brooks Berdan LTD Monrovia California

Dunlavy SC4 Speakers
One more vote for the Dunlavys. I too haven't heard AR9s but as Judsauce and many others have said/implied the Dunlavys' perform way above the price you are being offered. Even if the set you are looking at might be from the early runs. I too have...
Does vinyl have a sound?
Lewm, I don't doubt your claim at all, I was merely pointing out to OPs experience that sometime he hears plastic sound on percussion - is due to poorer set ups and vinyl up keeps, not Vinyl medium as a whole. On optimum or best set ups and equipm...
Does vinyl have a sound?
I have read reviews where they describe 'cardboardy' sound on poorer set ups. I think you may mean this when you describe plasticky. In this instances the sound is very two dimensional- no depth perception at all. The record noise is major contrib...
David Wilson must be a little annoyed...
Taters, I too have now heard both Q5 and Q7s and don't get all the hoopla either. Not yet. Once for a brief few minutes I did hear the Q5 with tube amps but my dealer quickly had to lower the volume as the tubes started 'sparkly'. Q5 is more tough...
interesting article about turntables and vinyl
Les, Metronome Kalista Transport (I have one) and I think Oracle CD player, has CDs spinning plainly visible, just like a Turntable with a clamp (mine is clear so you can look at the spinning spindle even) in the middle.
