Iron and Wine, The Shepherd's Dog
Second the recommendation. Have really been enjoying it the last couple of weeks....
does anyone sharpie thier CD's???
I use a sharpie to label all of my CD-Rs...
Any previous Wadia users?? Or did everyone move?
Agree with the two previous posts. I had a Wadia 25 DAC back in '96-'97 then switched to the single-box 860 in '97. Have continually upgraded the 860 over the years to current 861es. I still haven't heard digital (one-box or separates) done better...
Pat Metheny Fans, Great Suggestions Please ??
Another off-the-beaten-path soundtrack he did was for an Italian film called Passaggio per il Paradiso. It is actually really wonderful. He's not gonna fool anyone into believing he's a world class drummer or synth player but some of those melodie...
ARC D240mk2 vs D400 vs D400mk2
I can only comment on the D240mk2 and D400mk2 as I upgraded from the former to the latter a number of years ago as I use them to power a pair of Kinetic Audio Labyrinth t-lines which are fairly inefficient and like their current/power. I used the ...
Three Classical Sacd's on a desert island
I'd probably kill myself first if all I could take was classical...
Are there any GOOD Dylan SACD remasters?
The 'Slow Train Coming' SACD sounds excellent to these ears.
Decisions decisons, speakers or an amplifier
You will love the 3.6s. I agree they will almost surely lead you to ugrade the amp too but the Parasound will be great for the time being. Enjoy!
BI AMPING
If going for the active bi-amping the thing you need to keep in mind is the woofer x-over freq and the slopes of the high/low pass filters of the speaker's built-in x-over. What type of speakers are you planning to biamp?
BI AMPING
MikeL makes some great points. I use two EVC ultimate attenuators in my biamp setup. But I think in this case it really makes sense to go for the active x-over since you really do want to filter out the bass freqs going to the 300b SET amp for the ...
Waltz for Debby-Bill Evans Trio
You've got Bill Evans Trio "Sunday at the Village Vanguard" right?
Why is my amp requiring as much volume gain?
I think you've answered your own question re: input sensitivity. It is only really a problem if at max volume on the preamp you still don't have enough gain to satisfy your in-room max dB requirements. One thing to keep in mind is that most preamp ...
I think it is time to retire
I don't agree with any of your choices, although the Who really should consider hanging it up. Tour as Daltrey/Townshend or whatever but I'm sorry guys the Who is done and gone.
55 Foot Speaker Cable Run
Gotta agree with TVad. I have 4 30ft runs of the Canare 4S11 (biamped) and it works great. The issue is resistance. Roger Russel has an excellent rule-of-thumb for required gauge/resistance in speaker cables depending upon run and load:http://www.r...
What to do with 1,200 CDs I don't need
Well I'm certainly no lawyer and really this is irrelevent to me personally because I don't buy/sell used CDs although when I was a cash-strapped high-schooler I regularly bought/sold used LPs.It is an interesting philospohical question, however.T...
