JM Reynaud Twin Signatures vs. Bliss/Silver
The Twin Mark II's are often underestimated. The key to getting the most out of the Twins (like most speakers) is to find a good matching amplifier and cables. I am using an Audion Silver Knight single ended amplifier...in stereo mode...employing ...
40 yrs ago today, the world got "Experienced"
I will never forget Jimmy's "Fire" blaring from a pair of ARs placed in the third floor windows of our dorm...the guitar licks echoing across campus and and drifting over the battle fields on an Indian Summer night in 1969 at Gettysburg.
How many more years before cd's become passe?
Tennis,I assume then, that you are checking out of this thread, because any further comment on your part will divert you from listening to CDs instead of talking about them and that would undermine your logic.
Jazz trombone anyone?
JJ Johnson...may be the best of all time.
How many more years before cd's become passe?
I have to agree with Snofun3. There is no reason why this is not a legitimate topic for a forum. Tennis, do you know that today is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the vacuum tube? In 1975, when transistors and solid state represented the nex...
How many more years before cd's become passe?
They will become passe when all the old dinsaurs die off, or the day that the Apple whiz kids find a way to make MP3 sound like music instead of electronic hash...whatever comes first. In the interim, I will keep hording vinyl.
Componets first, cables second?
Mechans, is your rig located in Ted Kaczynski's cabin?
Small Room. Go for it or forget about it?
One of the systems I have enjoyed the most featured and Audion PX 25 single ended amp rated at 8W, a pair of Reynaud MkII speakers, Audio Note Lexus Cables, and a very modest Rotel 965LE amplifier in a modest sized room. Musical magic. Integrate t...
Componets first, cables second?
Ever hear the Maria Maldaur sing "it ain't in the meat, its the motion?" Size is not everything. Power is not everything. Otherwise, audio would be so simple...the guy with the most watts wins! Certainly it makes sense to buy good components. It i...
Why HDCD did not become a dominant format?
Psacanli,Appreciate your being conservative regarding repairs. However, EAD equipment is supported by Noble Electronics, which is a tech group composed of the engineers that pioneered the EAD products. Not only can they repair EAD products, they c...
How should you treat your tubes?
A little common sense goes a long way...if you are leaving the house, or there is a big electrical pull on your system from Air Conditioning or tools that you will be using, or a washer and dryer, sump pump, etc., or there is a thunder storm brewi...
re: phono preamps; is vintage ss any good?
Pryso,The FET-10 is a really nice buy. The build and parts quality of that preamp is astounding. Ever listen to the T-2?
Why HDCD did not become a dominant format?
You want a great player which is HDCD capable and supported by a superior aftermarket tech service? Find yourself an EAD 2000. It is built like a tank, musical as all get out, and can be had for around $800 on Audiogon. I own the EAD 2000 as well ...
Why HDCD did not become a dominant format?
The major players could not agree on this format. DVD-A and SACD formats were under development. Pacific Mircosonics was a tech company, not a marketing company. The majors development of the high end audio formats was interupted by Apple's introd...
