The Best Inexpensive Wines Available Now
Hogue Cellars Late Harvest Reisling. The 1999 and 2002 are both outstanding wines for the price. Some of my favorite Reisling, and I've had some good ones at 4x the price. Can be had for $10-14, depending on location. I have to special order here ...
jolida 302a + totem arro / pre-out for sub?
if SS isn't totally out of the question, i would recommend cairn's 4808 integrated. i am using a carin fog CDP paired with nanda preamp and mea monoblocks and the sound is incredible coming out of my totem tabus! the cairn's sound is non fatiguing...

"Must-have" SACDs Out There
be careful comparing the cd layer of an SACD hybrid disc to the SACD layer. i have found that a 'pure' redbook CD often outplays 'redbook' playback on hybrid SACD's? if this is done with marketing purposes in mind, or just 'sloppy' mastering as se...
To preamp or not to preamp?
this may not be the most conclusive response, but i am in the same boat as you. i recently purchased a cairn for cdp that allows you to run amps directly. i also purchased cairn's nanda preamp and mea monoblocks as well. the fog is currently power...
Power Cable Choices for Pre, Power Amps
I use both Signal Cable power cords and PS Audio XStream Preludes with great results. When I originally plugged a 3' Signal Cable into each of my monoblocks, I was shocked at the difference in sound over the stock cables! For $59, you can't go wro...
Replace Cary 303/200 with what?
i am a happy owner of a cairn fog CDP. i was so impressed with this player, that i changed my entire system to cairn. the fog now feeds a nanda preamp and two mea monblocks. i have spoken directly with gilles belot (cairn founder) many times via e...

Tell me about your sweet spot.
'D' Totem Tabu's, placed about 8' apart, positioned straight ahead, my listening position in 9' away.
Match for Cairn K1's?
I would suggest Cairn's own Nanda preamp. I am using that between my Cairn Fog and Cairn Mea monoblocks. The fog is an excellent CDP as well, but if you need CD and DVD playback in one unit, Cairn is working on a 'universal' unit for release nex y...
which monitor isn't lacking in the bass dept.?
totem's mani2 is an incredible monitor that goes low, but may be a bit above your price range, even used? i would suggest two other totem models, the tabu, which i currently run with excellent results. not the last word in bass definition for a mo...
The Best Live album
The most recent live album i've been impressed with is dave matthew's band 'live in central park'. these 3 discs really seem to capture the magic of that evening. they just have a great 'live' feel to them, that some live discs lack...
Best integrated under $1500 with Phono
plinius 8200 is one of the best integrateds at any price IMO. just slighty above your budget on the used market. this amp served me well before moving to seperates.
