The most important factor in soundstage imaging
Rodman99999,thanks for the links. I will check them out tonight when I get home. Here at work my airpods failed pretty bad lol.
B&W 704 S2 vs. 705 S2
Must be no love for these here. I have not heard the S2 models but owned a set of 703s more or less what the current 704s2 are with a different tweeter. At the the time of ownership I demoed the 705s. With out question I would take the floor stand...
The most important factor in soundstage imaging
Well this thread is done, Duke summed it up lol. So what about electronics? Why does one solid state amp have a larger sound stage than another solid state amp?
picking speakers (and electronics) for a relatively large room - new
Power requirement is more based on the efficiency of the speaker. The Olympica III is 90db which is pretty easy to drive. Keep in mind every 3db of loudness takes about twice the power. I would think 100-200 watts would be plenty for them.

I never mention it because I don’t want to be that negative guy but I just don’t care for goldenears. They just don’t play in the same league as other highend speakers. Just one man’s opinion. The Olympica III will be fine in that room. They have ...
The most important factor in soundstage imaging
Yep, like the others I would add speaker position depending on dispersion pattern of the speakers.i have found a noisy box to negatively effect the imiging too. A quiet box really helps. Gear seem to help from cheap gear to great gear. But very go...
Best Headphone system under $1000???
Headphones just like speakers all sound very different from each other. IMO I would tell you headphones are better than speakers for all things other than visceral impact and sound stage. Do I enjoy headphones more? No I value sound stage too and ...
Technology in speakers....
Well the thiel 3.7, Vivid B1 and Revel Salon 2s are all about 10 years old now. All have in house drivers with great driver tech (diaphragms, motors, engineering concepts etc) and well designed cabinets with solid engineering. So for me tech has n...
KEF LS50 or Harbeth P3ESR for desktop system?
Steve Guttenberg compares both of these directly and speaks candidly of them. Sounds like he likes the Harbeths better. 2 minutes in he starts talking about the kef in the link below. https://youtu.be/64WcfVWb49E
Do you "treat" your speakers rubber surrounds?
I would be worried that anything that would soften the rubber would attack the glue that holds it on. Probably causing more problems then it would fix. The oils in the rubber will leach out no matter what you do. The best thing you can do is keep ...
Wilson Sasha Daws or Sabrinas
14x14 is pretty tight. It will be hard to get your seat off the rear wall. The speakers need to be a couple feet out from the front wall (3’ minimum imo). Then 10’ distance or so from them for the drivers to integrate well. That would put you righ...
Thiel 2.3 behind couch or B&W 607 Bookshelf for rears.
Nice, yeah the 2.3 tweeter would shoot straight into the couch and probably not sounds right. I tried to use a pair of B&W 803s as rears when i had them and ended up moving to a diepole wall mounted speaker (focal).
Audio stuff that is impossible to install right (or stay installed right)
I build a “sound proof” room with double walls. On the inner wall I used 0.75” MDF, then special cock, then drywall. I also build MDF boxes around the air conditioner vents that ran through the ceiling. Packed the space between the walls with mine...
Anyone go from a single HomePod to a pair?
There are a number of good powered speakers out. Some even suport AirPlay. You can also add something like and Apple TV, or airport express (old used cheap one too) and get airplay support that way. Kef, paradigm, dynaudio and many others make the...
first impressions of Magico A3's
I will be interested to hear more about what you gained and maybe lost as a long term Thiel owner myself.
