Logitech Squeezebox Touch DAC: How Good?
Been using the touch through analogue outs for about 3 months now. It is surprisingly good, and improved markedly over the first 100-150 hrs. Also, I will be bipassing the output caps as John Swenson has recommended herehttp://forums.slimdevices.c...
NAS or USB drive to stream audio to a Squeezebox ?
bypassing the output caps in the touch may save you having to get a dac. also give it 100hrs burn-in on analogue out. mine improved radically during burn-in
Best Fully Automatic TT
technics SL-7 or SL-10. David Price at hi-fi world thought the sl-7 sounded better. then go to Raul's mm cartridge thread for p-mount cartridge ideas. The SL-7 goes for very little on ebay and with the right cartridge could be for you. It was seri...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Re the P-76 the change in it is remarkable. its opened up totally after 30hrs, and playing it on the linear tracking Technics SL-7 it's treble in particular is remarkable. Cymbals simply beautiful, and the lowther shout of my DX2's is tamed by the...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Sorry, not using a SUT!
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hello all. I'm now listening to my new p-76 on my p-mount liear tracker technics SL-7 tt, using a SUT & bottlehead phono stage at 47k. It has 2 hrs on it and is very different from my Denon 103r on a RB300 with cardas wire, technoweight and tw...
Garrard 401 or Thorens Td 124 II
i had a 401, now have a modded lenco that was better (not by much) with a OL Silver arm in my system.
The Richard Clark "all amps sounds the same" test
Yep i do. i've had two great alpine car systems, one of which would play a dave brubeck at carneguie hall cd so much better than my $3000 cd player into leak tl12+'s and stacked quad57's. go figure!
Great old speakers that are as good as new ones
I've owned ESL57's with new treble panels, Esl63's (not as good) Lowther Dx2's and now AR9's and AR3a's. The 57's and the AR9's are along with Avantgarde Trios the most amazing speakers I have ever heard. Anyone who has heard refurbished 57's and ...
My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
Oh, and dont get started on cartridges, or Raul might chip in with his mm favorites... heresy to the mc club hee
My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
Hee Forddonald you are getting a taste of the madness that analogue engenders! It is certainly better than cd (but worse than good fm). And now you are christened into the belt vs dd vs idler and rich vs poor debates all at once. I own a Lenco, th...
Which components knocked you out on first listen?
just iscovered horns i listened to yeasterday were the $36,000 Carfrae Big Hornes. Stunning!
Which components knocked you out on first listen?
Quad esl57's, Avantgarde Duos, and today i heard Monster horns (and i mean huge) with AER drivers driven by monster old tube set, Shindo pre and Linn deck with Koetsu cart. The first real ly jaw dropping bass i have ever heard - from a single 8" d...
Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot II
Hello all. Just to back up jean's claims re old sony stuff. My TA-3200F amp outgunned my Leak tl12+ monoblocks and homemade triode monos in every area mentioned by jean above, to my utter astonishment. As a result i sold the Leaks for $1,200 and k...
Audiophile turntables of the 60's and 70's
The Goldring Lenco L75 (GL75) i do believe cost more than the Garrards in the 60's. Put a decent arm and plinth on it now and like the Garrards it will do amazing things
