Oppo BDP-105 vs Mcintosh MVP-891
Dopogue,Interesting! I have a Raysonic 128 too and I like it a lot. I have wondered about upgrading my current Oppo 83 and getting the Oppo 105. I am interested to hear about your evaluation of the ModWright Oppo 105 vs. the Raysonic.
Some amplifier questions
I'm thinking about the sub question a little more. SVS has a cylinder subwoofer, the PC12-NSD. Other than having a small footprint, which I would consider important in Wemfan's room, would using a cylindrical sub have any superior advantages over ...
Some amplifier questions
Wemfan,As Tim wrote, if you are going to get a sub, get a self-powered one. Whether you get one or not may have something to do with the neighbors. Whether you need one depends on your listening habits and what you are expecting out of the system....
Some amplifier questions
And by the way, wemfan, I don't think you need a sub for this room given the way you are going to use it. I am just helping you spend your money if that is what you want to do... :)
Some amplifier questions
Wemfan,What is your budget for the sub? Are you thinking of one or two subs?
Some amplifier questions
Tim,Of course, all your suggestions are sensible and probably have been extremely helpful to Wemfan. I re-read the thread and I still don't see him mentioning HT. He's mentioned TV twice in the thread. He'll probably clarify - I mean - he has the ...
Has the Oppo carried the AV industry?
Avgoround, seems Tim (especially) and others have pretty much answered all your objections. Go on. Just buy the Oppo. And, if you don't like/need it, maybe PM me as I might pick it up from.
Some amplifier questions
Not trying to stir the pot, just mostly wondering why: I find these amp recommendations interesting given the OP says he will use this system 90% for TV. Now, if he mentioned he'd watch movies too, then yeah. But TV? Seems like a lot of money is b...
Has the Oppo carried the AV industry?
Keep in mind the perspective here is based on the question "is an Oppo worth the extra few hundred bucks over an el cheapo player. Since this decision made is typically in the context of a "modest" system, I can see how in some cases the answer is...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?

Zu Omen or Tekton Lore
For a time, this was one of the hottest threads on AudiogoN. Why it cooled, I don't know. For me, I was interested in purchasing the Pendragons. Maybe it was the delays some (many?) customers were experiencing in getting speakers delivered, that p...
Best movie to see what your HT AUDIO will do.
Master and Commander and Saving Private Ryan for exactly the reasons mentioned above. If you really want to show off the low end, then I'd also suggest War of the Worlds.
Will anyone do a report on the RMAF???

AV Receiver/Separates for under $2K
Bill,That is somewhat reassuring, re your comments about NAD equipment. As much as I would like to try, reports elsewhere of popping/clicking sounds have put me off from trying them.
Where's the talk/reviews on the Emotiva UMC-200?
Good question, Vicdamone.
