Best AV Processor for 2 channel
Naaaaaaa....I still like the idea of getting a more "budget" AV pre-pro, and looping it through your preamp's "dirrect" or "auxilary" or "Tape", etc inputs! Thus you can keep your killer 2 channel sound you worked so hard to get sounding right, an...
In wall speakers for cheap HT system
Naaaaaa...I like the little infinity TSS750 or TSS450 system's for you, mounted on the wall. Otherwise, little Boston acoustics inwalls, as your plan. Still the little infinities, with a Denon receiver(warmish) will be a killer, audiphile, budget,...
Too many speakers for home theater?
"...Proper setup should alleviate your problem."Yes, this is the "correct" answer for you!Setup and acoustics, as well as calibration and tweeking is going to "do it" for you, yes!You say you're getting "flat frequency response" from your listenin...
5/6 channel amp with laidback, soft, smooth trebble
Alright Glen, the speakers are little Klipsch SB1's/SB2's, cables are Monster M550i and M1000 digital (both of which should be smooth/forgiving on top...not sure on digital..tinkering), speaker cables are some bare copper I'm using (will try switc...
Thoughts on my speaker search...kind of long......
("....I really wondered how we could be hearing 2 totally different things.")Answer: It's real easy...different setup/placment, room acoustics and related(including ceiling height and distance from speakers to seat from boundaries) associated equi...
Rotel rsx-1067 vs Arcam avr300
The Arcam is sonically a better piece in my experience than the Rotel. However, You'd still do better all around with something like an Outlaw separates combo.Still the Arcam is sonically a pretty piece(as a receiver...you may even add an amp down...
Active crossovers and commercial home speakers?
BTW, KennyT, what are you using for speakers, cross, drivers, etc????...I used to personally sell the Meridian speakers, along with the rest of their electronics line. I have never been a fan of the sound from Meridians however...rather dark soundin...
Speaker w/F.R. 100hz & Receiver Bass crossover
By the way Didactically, for the record, your info regarding figuring the lowest bass frequency a given room may support is incorrect. That is determined by figuring from the "LONGEST DIAGONAL" distance in the room, not the longest wall length!
Active studio monitors. Nobody has them. Why?
"...One (idiot) salesman in a high-end store in Denver argued with me earlier this year that passive crossovers are better than active,..."I agree that the above is the most absurd thing I've ever heard! Passive crossovers have SEVERE LIMITATIONS!...
Merlin TSM-M vs. B&W Sig. 805
Merlins need to be closer the the room boundaries for bass reinforcment(sealed speaker). But more importantly, as a former owner of the TSM-M's, and a seller of the 805's, I find the 805's a bit more refined personally. Actually, the VSM's are muc...
Rotel RB-1080 and Sonus Faber GP?
Yeah....NO!!! Sold both lines over the years. PLEASE?!...MOVE UP IN AMP QUALITY WITH THOSE! Jump to at least Classe, McCormack, or better!
Fidelity
Just to reiterate a stance that I've personally had for years, as I've been around high end audio as long, is that high fidelity is most challenged in the home environment in the area of "dynamic transparancy". Otherwise, "high fidelity", at least...
Favorite H H Scott Tube Integrated Amplifier
I owned a Scott 70b or 72b or something like that, as well as Golden Tube amps, Jolida's, and other BARGAIN PRICED TUBE AMPS. The Scott "stock" was good to a point, and enjoyable for cheep nonetheless. Still, it couldn't compete with the other amp...
Advice on Home Theatre components...
OH THIS IS TOO RIPE!!!!!!! This just cracks me the &!%# up!I just got through posting on "preamp deal of the century" that there are so many threads like "I just bought a Denon 3805...NOW WHAT SPEAKERS DO I BUY!?!" I was completely joking!...t...
