Sophia 2/Magico V2 versus Sasha/Magico V3
What about MAXX3/M5 versus Alexandria X-2/Ultimate II?
Rockport Mira VS Verity Parsifal Ovation
"I've been playing with the Chesky test CD's (Best of Chesky Jazz #2, "Height Test" and "General Image and Resolution Test") and I can't get the height to extend beyond 65% up and the imaging doesn't go all around me on that monkey test (if you kn...
Good amp for B&W 804S for the space-constrained
I think a Rotel Class D amp would be a great choice. They match well with B&Ws, particularly the 800 series, and have very small footprints comparatively, and run cool, so you can fit them in a cabinet without worrying about any over-heating i...
Rockport Mira VS Verity Parsifal Ovation
I heard them at the dealer's. Trust me, I wanted to like them as I've always heard good things about Rockports and wanted to hear for myself. I would have preferred to listen to the Arrakis or the Altair, but they only had the Aquila set up. The d...
Rockport Mira VS Verity Parsifal Ovation
I heard from my local Rockport dealer that they will be releasing a 2-way floorstander soon aimed primarily at the Asian audiophile market where living spaces are generally much smaller, like in Hong Kong and Tokyo. Seems they are targeting the sa...
Vivid Audio ???
I've heard the Vivid Audio K1. My impression is that it's a very decent speaker in terms of throwing a deep holographic image and believable soundstage, and sonically the highs and mids are very refined. What it lacks, however, is an engrossing bo...
Revel Salon 2 vrs Kef 207/2
Vav, I demoed the 207/2s again yesterday and they are a VERY good speaker for $14K. I auditioned them back-to-back with the 205/2s, and it's not even worth the comparison. I was surprised how bright and harsh the 205/2 sounded, and the bass was re...
B&W N800, 800D, 802D for my room 16x17x8
The 802D would be perfect for your size room, though I think it can also handle the 800D. I don't have much experience with the Nautilus series, but my understanding is that the Diamond tweeters were a marked improvement from the previous models.
Revel Salon 2 vrs Kef 207/2
"One of the biggest myths in audio is that a higher priced unit outperforms a lower priced one."That's twisting what I said. I was referring specifically to the large discrepancy in pricing (in this case around 2x) AND in the $14K to $27K price-ra...
B&W CM1's vs. ERA 5's
I haven't heard the ERA 5 so can't comment. I have heard the CM1s which I think are very good. The speaker is very dynamic and detailed, though a tad bit on the bright side. Bass is adequate, though not as substantial (for a bookshelf) as say the ...
B&W vs Vandersteen?
The B&W 802Ds for sure. The Vandersteen 3A Signature is good for its price, but comes nowhere close to the B&W 800 series, particular with the Diamond tweeter models. You'll notice quickly on this board there are a lot of anti-B&W poste...
Revel Salon 2 vrs Kef 207/2
It's a no-brainer that a $27K speaker is generally going to outperform a $14K speaker, especially when made by reputable brands. I have no doubt the Sasha is much superior speaker to the 207/2. Then again, while I think KEFs are good, they are not...
from B&w 805's to Usher be-718 - what to expect?
That sounds more like a downgrade.
Thiel CS7.2 vs Revel Salon2
Rtn1, I agree with what you said except for your comment about Magico. I think anything less than the M5 would be a downward move from what the OP already has.
Any problems with MBL101E speakers
Wow, that's disappointing. The MBLs are among my favorite speakers that I have demo'd, including yours and particularly the 101X, and might be my next speaker purchase if I ever move into another house with a larger listening area.On a side note, ...
