Remarkable New Vintage Audio Store in Austin, TX
Very, very cool. I live about an hour and a half away in Fredericksburg. Will definitely have to make that trip. Any idea if they buy/trade? I have some old classics that need a good home.
Magtech Amplifier
The Magtech is a superb amp, and not just for the money. I have two of them, driving the woofers and the panels of my Sanders 10c. I've owned many amps over the years, some much more expensive and both tube and solid state (e.g. VAC, Ayre MX-R). T...
What's the weak link in my Analog chain?
I would have to agree with several others. The Souther is a poor design, even more poorly executed. I'd be willing to bet that, ironically, it's causing the classic symptoms of old time digital - constriction, harshness, and several other forms of...
phono section noise
Marakanetz,Are you suggesting that he goes poking around a live tube unit??? Sounds like a recipe for a safety disaster to me. NOT a good idea.
Best Way to Play Flac Files
I'm going to throw another vote in for JRiver. In my case, the interface is JRemote on an iPad, with ripping/conversion accomplished by dBpoweramp. These, combined with my server (Music Vault Diamond) and DAC (Antelope Gold) have provided me with ...
Sanders 10c Owners
Czapp,There's actually no search involved. I'm quite happy with the Magtech. My question was purely out of curiousity.I am, however, intrigued by your amps. You see, I owned the Innersound 3.5 when Roger was developing those amps. I was hoping to ...
Build a new system around pair of Snell Alll's?
Excellent. Best of luck to you and good listening always.Hope the remodel goes well. I'll be passing through Austin next week on my way to our new home (only a frame as I write this) just outside of Fredericksburg.
Build a new system around pair of Snell Alll's?
Tccaux,It's been a while since you've posted, so I don't know where you are in the process, but I'll offer a suggestion. I own the Sanders 10c with two Magtechs (individually driving the transmission line and the 'stat panels). After having been e...
Why no used Sanders Magtechs?
I am also an owner of Sanders 10c and two Magtechs. After many, many years of buying and selling more amps that I can count, I've settled on the Magtech. It is an extraordinary beast, and about as neutral as they come. To top it all off, they are ...
Review: Music Vault Diamond Transport
Dob,I'll let Neal answer your technical questions if he cares to do so. I'll only say that there are no hints of either graininess or jitter in this latest version of the Diamond. The operating system loads much more quickly, presumably due to the...
Review: Music Vault Diamond Transport
Hi Negli,I had not looked at this thread for quite some time, so please excuse me for not answering. The standard interface is now an iPad, removing my only serious objection as noted in the review. Neal will load up either Media Monkey with Monkey...
Considering Beveridge, your opinion please.
I agree with those who say that the Beveridges can be quite temperamental. Making matters worse, they are one of the most complex speakers around. I confess to a very soft spot in my heart for them, as they are the single component that turned me ...
Tubes or Solid State for Joseph Audio speakers
I have driven my Perspectives with both tubes (VAC) and solid state (Sanders Magtech). While both have their strengths, on balance I prefer the Magtech. It is a superb combination.
Has anyone actually bought a Zesto Phono preamp?
I purchased an Andros about 2 months ago. It is superb. 'Quiet' is an understatement. Not only does it handle my low(ish) output Ortofon A90, but does so driving a Voltikus Gold with no preamp (i.e. no active gain stage). Harmonic integrity is at ...
Phono Preamp as Control Center
Jond,No, I was looking for a one box solution with no additional gain stage.Mike
