Technics SL1200MK2 Cartridge Discussion
I hear you guys on the arm. Personally I kinda like VTA on the fly, so keeping the arm is probably the best. As for the arm mods, the KAB Cardas rewire is only to an RCA plate? Don't they have something that goes straight to RCAs or even XLRs?If I...
Technics SL1200MK2 Cartridge Discussion
Not so much a cartridge question, rather an SL1200 hot-rod question:Which would be a better option for modding an SL1200a) HiFi World's version with modded RB250http://editions.pagesuite.co.uk//_PSEDITIONS/HiFiWorld/Hi-Fi%20World/September%202007/...
Raven v Walker. Colored v Accurate?
The conflict between audio truth vs euphonia has long plagued many audiophiles. Should our search for audio truth remain unwavering despite our preference for warmth, or can these seemingly opposing objectives co-exist?When we examine our audio re...
Got a New CD Player and Now I'm Bummed
DodgealumYou could also consider the Clearaudio Performance table($2800) with the magnetic bearing. Change the cart to a decent MC, say the Dyna 17D3($895) or the XX2($1850) and round it off with the great sounding Aqvox Phono2(EUR949).I also rate...
Hi-End carts - pros
Thanks to all for the inputs, I have committed to the Dyna XV-1s, which should arrive in about 7-10 days. Keep you guys updated on how it sounds. :)
What is the best Dynavector MC cartridge - why?
Hi Kevin (Ella4ever)As you have owned the Dyna carts, I'm interested in your opinions about the sonic differences between the XX2, TK, and the XV-1s.Thanks
Stand out phono stages
The Aqvox Phono2 should be added to budget list. The ModWright SWP should also qualify, although I'm not sure how you determine if its in the first and 2nd list.
Hi-End carts - pros
Thanks to all for the responses. While considering these choices, I know that going with the Dyna is going for a manufacturer's statement product. Whereas the KRSP would be a middle of the range, although already very high end cart. It seems like ...
Esoteric SA-10 SA-60
Somehow Esoteric units sound "different" from other manufacturer's digital sources. There's more detail and a certain musically "correct" balance which I attribute primarily to their transport/lens mechanism.
Stereo Sound cart rankings
LewnFrankly I'd like to find some gem myself. A friend, who's ears I trust, mentioned that the Phase Tech P3 was special. At the price point its worth just buying to try, or just go for the P3G.
Stereo Sound cart rankings
Stereo Sound is to the Japanese audiophile what Stereophile/TAS is to the American audiophile. As in all things audio, it is an opinion based on tastes and musical biases. Nevertheless, they put that in print and are willing to critique, and likewi...
Esoteric P5/D5 Opinions please
Someone corrected me, it should be on a performance/price ratio that this ranking was compiled.
Stereo Sound cart rankings
Jonathan, thanks for the correction, I knew it was too good to be true, but yes on a performance/$ ratio, the 103R should still rank highly.I've heard the Titan a number of times and was always impressed, but not the Skala. You must have done some...
