krell vs marklevinson
I've listened to both; the Krell KAV250 outperforms the much older Levinson 27 in my opinion. The Krell is faster, more open and transparent; it makes the Levinson sound somewhat dark in comparison.
Purchasing my first TT, suggestions welcomed
The Technics SL-1200 Mk2. It can be bought brand new for around $400. I've had Linns, Heybrooks, Denons, VPIs, Projects and Regas but the Technics is my favorite.
Krell and MBL
Go with the Krell; by far better than the MBL.
Need a Solid State Pre Amp For under $2000
Keep your eyes open for a Krell KRC-3. This is a great sounding preamp and will match up well with your Krell KSA-250. They go for around $1000 on the used market. Another nice preamp is the Classe CP-50.
You know you're an audiophile if--
You've had over 100 speaker systems over the past 35 years (like me).
Oscar Peterson
There's an Oscar Peterson performance on youtube called "The Theme" that is just amazing:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBIyri8E8II&feature=related
Has Anyone Criticized The Choice Of Your Cables?
If the cables sound good to you that's all that matters.
Jennifer Warnes 20th Ann Famous Blue Raincoat RI
It's very well recorded and performed, but Leonard Cohen lyrics are depressing.
Any Jonathan Kreisberg fans here?
I like both Jonathan Kreisberg and Jonathan Kruger.
Tice Audio?
It's unfortunate that Tice Audio is no longer in business; always thought the Tice AC power conditioners were by far the best ones on the market. George is a great individual; met him at the Las Vegas CES show back in the early 90s.
Rega P5 with loose trim panels
I purchased a brand new Rega P3-24 back in Decemeber and noticed the fit and finish wasn't very good for a brand new unit. I believe, along with other British audio manufacturers, Rega may now be having their products made in China. The build qual...
What is the Phono stage you have finished with?
I have the Audio Research PH3 and really like this unit.
Onkyo A-9555 and Benz Ace L: step-up? preamp?
I have a similar setup and purchased a Cambridge 640P phono preamp. Works for both MM and low output MC cartridges and is really a nice improvement over the phono stage in the Onkyo.
How is your power bill?
At one time I had some Lamm 1.1 monoblocks as well as a few of the Krell pure class A heat hog amps and my power bill was at least $60 more a month. That's one thing I pay attention to anymore when buying equipment; what is the power consumption (...
Cambridge 840c vrs used Cary 303/300
I've heard both extensively. A well broken in Cambridge 840C is really hard to beat. The Cary 303/300 on the other hand just doesn't quite do it for me; of course a lot of it depends on which 12AU7 tubes you use. I think considering you are alread...
