Bass reinforcement for very large room
Sounds like your speakers need more power A room that size will need 350-1000 watts/ch depending on the speakers sensitivity. A quality sub for two channel audio would help but no HT crap. Rel studio would come to mind
Can I run my sunfire cinema grand into 2 ohms?
Why not run them in series to keep the impedance at 8 ohms? I assume the Infinities are 4 ohm speakers?Ed
Speaker connection
Coincident TRS Extreme or Westlake Audio are the best I have come across regardless of price
Tube biasing problem
You answered your own question. the tubes in question are at the end of their usable life. Continuing to run the amp with your current tubes puts a harder demand on the one tube that has some good operating life. This will cause that tubes useable...
Live vs home system???
Go to live acoustic jazz or a classical Symphony concert, sit in the center row or in the center of the jazz club at about the center of that theater or club and listen. If you can get you system close to this sound you are there. Often what I hav...
Review: Monobloke Woodworking Maple Amp Stand Stand
I've had Jerry build a few custom size platforms for various equipment and was amazed at the quality to price ratio. He does fabulous work and is a very kind gentleman. Very highly recommended
Mark Levinson No.23 vs McIntosh MC7300
I owned the Levinson 23.5 amp. This baby was one of the best amps I've ever had. Tight fast bass response. This amp will wake up your speakers and give them more detail. Plus this amp has endless power reserves. Its like you can keep turning up th...
Phono stage for tube system - recommendations?
For the price range you are in I would stay with a tubed phono pre like a Manley Steelhead (which I do own) or go with a soundsmith strain gauge for a non tube. The strain gauge is absolutely amazing. The best phono reproduction in any price range...
Preamp for McIntosh MC225
I would think a Marantz 7 would pair up nicely with an Mc-225. Very classy system
Tape Project-Any reason so many tapes are showing
I'm glad to see the support for Tape Project. I just happen to notice in the last few weeks that the tapes were showing up and I never thought there would be a chance to purchase a few without a subscription given the very limited production run. ...
Tape Project-Any reason so many tapes are showing
Mikelavigne-I hope you are correct about more audiophiles joining the tape arena. I feel the Tape Project is a great idea but do wish there were more offerings n the Jazz and Blues categories. I would join in a heartbeat. If anything TP should all...
Tape Project-Any reason so many tapes are showing
Ironbut-I know what you mean. I come from the older school audiophile group. I do have vinyl open reel and cd/mp3 as all part of my two channel system. The Tape project takes a more involved approch and a commitment with a deck that can play the ta...
Manley Steelhead V1 vs. V2?
I have version 2. The line input and the power supply having the blue LED vs red are the only changes I have noticed. The tube compliment is the same, and the newer V2 is remote controlled. Other than that they are the same sonically
To bias or not to bias
Bigger tube amps require biasing more so than smaller ampsWhen you have 8-16 power tubes per amp getting that many numbered tubes matched will be a challenge. Even if you have a matched group of 8 or 10 power tubes, larger power tubes tend to drif...
Wilson Maxx 2 Biamping?
I passed on buying the speaker. Give it a try, It sounded like the speaker will not play the entire frequency range if bi-amped You could email Wilson and get a more defined answer, they respond quickly.
