The best speaker you ever heard?

In my opinion, the speaker is by far the most important part of the audio system. After all, it is the only part you hear. OK, the other stuff really matters a lot, but without a great speaker... No go.

I am a bit 'speaker-obsessed' I guess, and now I am wondering: What are the best speakers you have ever heard, and what made them the best?

I can say with no doubt, that the Green Mountain
C-3 is the best speaker I have ever heard anywhere.

More later as they break in.

I know this is an old thread, and I have placed my vote
before I think, but I discovered a new (discontinued) gem that
now ranks as the very best speaker I have ever heard or
owned. The Silverline Panatella III's...OMG they
are unreal!
Why they were discontinued, I will never know!?!?

I have alway's liked 901's, and owned many, but MK2??

what, I agree that the 901's sound great, not sure the best
I have "ever" heard, but I have heard a lot! And I have always
wondered where the H.E. double hockey sticks Bose bashers came from. I have owned/heard worse very high end speakers!
