Perfectly recreate a passive crossover using DSP

I was reading a post by an A'goner who wanted to convert the crossover from a Thiel speaker from passive to active.  I thought to myself, now that's a real challenge, given the very careful phase matching that the original crossover has, so I wrote up an article to help tinkerers perfectly recreate a passive crossover using DSP.

Hope some of you find it useful and informative.

Great initiative, Erik.

As you touch upon: with an accurate DSP-replica of the passive crossover it can act as an outset or basis (saved as a preset) to experiment from, certainly to the individuals who feel confident to do so and would like to tinker on and see what may come of it.

More pressing however: a DSP-replica likely won't fully mimic the overall sonic balance and characteristics as found with the passive crossover in its stead (for several reasons, really), so there may be an element of necessity for further tweaks.

As is though it’s a welcoming helping hand to make it easier for those who are interested to venture in the direction of a DSP crossover replacing a passive ditto in their speakers.
