How really good is Red Wine Audio?

...when you compare the preamp Isabella and the amp 30.2 or 70.2 with great stuff like Ayre, Nagra or Audio Research or others?

And how good is the DAC in Isabella when you use it with a MacBook or a good transport and compare it with a real good CDP like Opus 21, Ayre CX-7e, AMR CD77 or Esoteric X3-xe (just a few examples).

I read a lot positive opinions about RWA but who really tested it about a few days and then donĀ“t bought it. Reasons?

Thanks!

My brother had some Red Wine stuff and was very disappointed in its reliability. After two service trips on a single unit, he sold it off. Turnaround took about ten weeks.

It would have been helpful if you could state more precisely what gear are you referring to?
Was it 30.0, 30.2, 70.2, Isabella, Isabellina (the only RWA products from ground up) or one of the modified t-amps or other gear that RWA just happened to worked on ?????

I own(ed) 30.0 integrated, 30.2 amp and Isabella/Isabellina pre and never had a problems. YMMV

P.S
Using MacBook Air for source

I bought my Red Wine Audio Reali-T DAC/Pre-amp/Amp used several years ago and I have not had a single problem with it yet. I consider it to be an exceptional value.

I haven't compared it directly with any expensive retail brands because I've not found a need to spend the amount of money demanded by the big name retail units.

I did own an Opus 21 a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I just got a Mac Mini for Christmas and it may become my new digital "transport".

I think RWA has a forum on AudioCircle. You may be able to contact more actual owners over there.

Enjoy,
