Does Avalon speakers have a house sound?

If so, how would you describe it?

I heard someone describing them as "a litle brittle in the highs and thin in the mids". Is that so?

The sound interested me but I did not have time for extended auditions that would be needed to make any kind of meaningful determination regarding how this would play for me over time.
