Good post, Jeff. Mercy Corps is another relief agency which is accepting web-based donations. According to their site, 91% of your donation goes into relief, only 9% to overhead. And now us folks on the American side of the border can get our government to step up to the plate. $35 million- thats about 10 cents apiece. Halliburton has overcharged us more than that for toilet paper in Iraq for goodness sake. Call/write the Prez and Congress and demand action.
Making a Difference
The death toll continues to mount in Asia and the suffering is heart-breaking; most of the injured and dead were children who did not have the physical strength to save themselves. The numbers are staggering, over 120,000 dead and more injured. This disaster has not only effected the folks living there, but many others who were visiting when the earthquake and tsunami hit. They need your help.
Relief agencies from all over the world are trying to do what they can to deliver much needed food, clean water, and medicine. Clearly there's much to be done and it will cost a lot of money.
