Pass Labs A/B amps vs Class A amp and Actual Power
What the Pass XA.5 series does to Class A signal power when speaker impedance is reduced from 8 ohm to 4 ohm is well discussed on this board. Secondly, the design differences between Class A and Class AB amplifiers can also be searched through thi...
Class A amplifiers - which are considered the best
I'll add more fuel to the fire, beyond what Audiofeil said. Speaker matching is just one thing. Mine however lies in the power conditioner. If you read Audiogon messages long enough, they all sound about the same when comparing Class A amp. to som...
Most NEUTRAL class A mono's
I have not listened to any Tital speakers, only heard that the Sunrays are quite impressive. The drivers on the side of Sunrays remind me of the multi-directional design in better MBL speakers to which I did listen. While the spaceous and holistic...
Any other Infinity MTS owners out there?
I am surprised too, regarding the Sasha. What helps the Prelude MTS is that it has many drivers from the floor to a height well above you when you sit down. The music would then engulf you naturally, as opposed have the speakers compensate to imag...
Any other Infinity MTS owners out there?
I own a pair of Infinity MTS. The multi-driver system really allows the texture of the sound to come out. Of course the sub-woofers with their own amplifiers are very nice, allowing the speakers to be easily driven by moderate power amplifiers. On...
How much better will a preamp be over a processor
My mistake ... I mean Stereophile, and not "Audiophile". Just type in keywords stereophile, bryston & SP2 into Google to get the review.
Opinions on these amps?
Darrenmc, I mean Stereophile, and not "Audiophile". Just type in keywords stereophile, bryston & SP2 into Google. You will see the review. But then you probably know about this already since you own the SP2.
How much better will a preamp be over a processor
You might consider reading Audiophile review on the Bryston SP2 which is a pre/pro with a bypass for 2-channel music listening. After that in my opinion, you really should audition this piece, and demand the dealer to combine the SP2 (in bypass mo...
Opinions on these amps?
I also own the Bryston SP2 pre/pro, and just wouldn't replace it with any integrated amplifier, tube or otherwise. In my opinion Audiophile is fair when expressed surprise that with the bypass mode, the SP2 sounds just as good as any upper-crust p...
Does Class A amplifier artificially smoothen sound
Bjbcab, I hear you. Don't ask. What I heard is what I tell everybody. I used to prefer DVD-A over CD back in the days of using Class AB amplifier however. My reasons then were probably about the same as yours.
Does Class A amplifier artificially smoothen sound
Atmasphere, I am using the analog out of the Meridian 808, thus its own DAC. Yet with such contrast between CD and DVD-A, this has nothing to do with the Pass XA60.5. Comments thus far seem to support my original thought that what you put in (mean...
Does Class A amplifier artificially smoothen sound
What DVD-A offers, at least in my system, is more detail. Positioning of instruments is more distinct as well. It's good in the precision area, and not so good in harmonizing and flowing instruments and voices together. In live performance everyth...
Does Class A amplifier artificially smoothen sound
I am trying to come across neutral, that people would be more comfortable voicing either positive or negative comments about class A amplifiers. Personally I don't think it's an artificial compensation by Class A to make the sound more pleasant as...
Amp stands for Pass Labs
I would recommend SRA (Silent Running Audio) any day. They make isolation platforms including the type that sit on the floor/carpet to support amplifiers. Kevin Tellekamp who owns SRA apparently does military applications for submarine isolation. ...
Tubelike SS Power amp
I would tend to think that amplifier designers look for ways to be more faithful to the natural sound. Effects like "warm", "euphonic", "precise", or "sharp" should not be that noticeable in better amplifiers, tube or SS, at least the Class A soli...
