Some thoughts on ASR and the reviews Glad to see Amir-ASR here. Takes some guts given how he gets bashed around in here. I like ASR and think there’s valuable info there. In addition to reviews, Amir’s general write ups on digital audio are very good. HDMI was eye opening. Thanks, Am...
Please help with Roon server/core issue Hi Nadine- Interesting post and cool to see all the folks weighing to help. Roon changed my music listening life for the reasons you mention and more. A great product when it’s working, which, fortunately, is most of the time. When I’ve needed su...
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :) In answer to the question, Yes! I have always been proud of putting together good sounding systems for comparatively low $$$. I have rarely bought new equipment, kept current thru the audio press, but, most importantly, as a musician I know what ...
Seeking Honest Opinions: Your Experience with McIntosh Audio Gear A little different perspective. I have bought almost all of my audio components used. I’m the second owner of an MC352 that I use to drive Quad 63s. When I moved on to Sound Lab electrostatics, I bought two MC2500s, each bridged to mono 1000 watts...
Beatles CD box set +1 on the 2009 remastered box set. Very well done IMO
Modding the PS Audio Directstream DAC MK1 and MK2 Do both the MKI and MKII use the same software and firmware?
Thank Heavens For The Internet World Used/ Pre-Owned High End Audio Market!!!! Totally agree to both the availability of good used higher end gear and the unfortunate demise of brick-and-mortar. My audio budget has always been limited so I’ve bought very few pieces new. Some of my best finds were in pawn shops. I joined ...
Your greatest high end audio purchase!!! Enjoying this post everyone. I don’t cycle gear much, tending to get gear that sounds good to me on a limited budget and listen to it for a long time. But sticking with the “greatest hi-end purchase” question, it was buying a pair of Quad ESL 63s...
Speaker placement Quandary Great thread! Good resources, suggestions. I saw an intriguing suggestion a couple years ago about setting your system up diagonally in the room. So instead of facing a wall from the listening position, you face a corner. I can’t try this for tec...
Tidal or Qobuz Tried Qobuz first. I listen to a lot jazz and they were missing some classic, obvious recordings. Cancelled Qobuz and went with Tidal. Much better catalog of the music I listen to. Both Qobuz and Tidal sound good to me.
Roon Aquisition: Will This Help Or Hamper? We’ll see what happens at annual budget time when Roon audio engineering leadership meets corporate finance. Roon is an engineering-driven company. If Harmon is just buying technology, we’ll see some personnel changes at Roon pretty fast. If Harm...
Anthem STR pre and power amplifier Congrats on your purchase! The full HT pass thru sealed the deal for me. I use the STR preamp for two channel listening and a Marantz pre/pro for HT. Have been very pleased with ARC. My room is problematic and ARC has helped me make significant ...
Roon and Streaming Services You can choose the source at album level by selecting version. I went from Qobuz to Tidal. The Qobuz version was still showing but couldn’t play.
Redundant Internet ATT put fiber in my back yard a few years ago. Internet has been very stable. Had a couple of short late-night outages that I think were maintenance. I run a late schedule. If I’d been working “normal” hours I might not have seen it. Unlike my Sp...
Anthem AVM-70 8K Am using an Anthem STR preamp with HT pass through to an older Marantz 7.1 prepro (7102?) for TV/Movies. My room is odd and there is little I can do acoustically, so I need DSP help. Short story is that I tried Audessey on the Marantz, didn’t like... |
