eBay / PayPal: Beware - enough is never enough.
If anyone in here thought that Big Tech would stop only at censoring millions of Americans, this proves them wrong. They OWN America, folks! And they will start acting like it. This is your proof….
What do $2500 speaker cables sound like?
My cables cost $6700. When I put them to my ears, I hear nothing. So the answer for the $2500 cables is the same. Nothing. No sound.
Does the Audio Industry Have a Quality Problem?
Wow….Ive experienced none of these issues. I’m still using the same 1980 integrated amplifier, same 1981 receiver, same 1985 and 1989 speakers, same 1977 TT, same 1958-1983 cartridges, same 1981 and 1988 cassette decks. No issues. Perhaps you spen...
The speaker/amplification wars continue
This is a very strange and weird post by the OP.
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
Amplifier design is critical for achieving, or not, really good imaging/soundstaging.It has nothing to do with tubes or SS devices! It has to do with design and execution. You can have a flat wall soundscape with either tubes or transistors. It’s ...
So done with audiophile fuses
I never got suckered into that fuse crap.I don’t have problems blowing any fuses, much less $50+ boutique fuses.
CD v Streamed
Streaming makes money by using inferior sources and reformatting to stream data. Money is based on file size. NOT quality of the file. Garbage out, money in.
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's.
I’ve had a copy of Dick Schory’s New Percussion Ensemble since 1958.  It’s in the same collection that Mike Fremer shows on his tour of his collection.I shop my local 11 thrift stores frequently. Most are 10/$1 !!!  Most are in pristine condition....
CHALLENGE: Best speakers for playing 1812 Overture by Eric Kunzel with real CANON at 92+dB
I have that CD. I've played it on my 1989 Polk RTA 8Ts with no issues at 96 dBA. But now I have a 2005 Velodyne DLS 15" subwoofer. It has no issues playing that CD at loud levels either. No popping, no distortion.  So I'm not getting the problem h...
mystery muffled mids
daveman257 posts04-28-2021 12:39am@gmercer - don't know if you're just trolling, but I will explain why I asked in case you are actually just ignorant, and also for the sake of the OP and others in this thread. The OP has a great amp and speaker...
I am getting some new tubes for my amp, and I want to do a 24-hour burn in. How?
Burn in??????!Tubes sound and perform best during their first 100 hours. Their very best the first 50 hours. They continually degrade after that.
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl?
I got smart 16 years ago. Some in here are just SLOW.my table is just below chest height. Makes everything visible, easy, and painless. Even doing alignments are very easy; I have 107 cartridges so I align often. As for using brushes, when are you...
My conclusion: mid level $$ analog vs digital
I never left analog. I knew in 1983 that CDs didn’t match LPs. My first listen was to a CD of Alan Parsons Project “Eye In The Sky”. The silence of the CD was stunning. But the SOUND of the LP was just amazing! It hasnt ever changed. Analog still ...
Which Phono Preamp?
The Abacus phono pre is the finest there is, bar none.
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital?
I listen almost exclusively to vinyl. Maybe a couple times per year I listen to CDs. I also have cassettes. Digital is an awful format. The background is quiet, yes. But the audio portion is just abysmal.millercarbon8,794 posts04-18-2021 8:17pmThi...
