Hi-end audio is a big zero
I apologize for not being able to get past the title and first sentence of this post without being critical. The title is "High End Audio is a Big Zero" when what you meant is "High End Audio Dealers are a Big Zero". High end audio by itself is ju...
Types of Audiophiles
What does a soul or lack thereof have to do with opinions? That one really confused me. A better description of Scientist would be "Let me see the output of that audio analyzer."
Who is Gonna Buy A New Jeep Grand Wagoneer For the MacIntosh Stereo?
Bad reliability and a ridiculously high price? Where do I sign up?
Sad songs- We love them- We need them
Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul, and Mary A dragon lives forever, but not so little boys Painted wings and giant's rings make way for other toys One gray night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more And Puff, that mighty dragon, he ceased his...
Help finding a subwoofer
I've said it before in this forum and I'll say it again, REL subs seem to be the one type of audio gear that almost everyone can agree on as being well built, having excellent performance, and a good value. In fact, I don't think I've seen a negat...
Roger Waters and Graham Nash on The Band.
Never thought of The Band as anything more than a really good garage (or basement if you prefer) band. This is just my opinion but I’ve never understood the hype.
Great classical pianists
Liberace - "I wish my brother George was here." Only kind of joking. He actually was a great pianist early on and won some competitions but later on went for showmanship over quality. But people loved him for that showmanship.
Basic question about power/watts
Whoever told you that Maggies don't pair well with a sub was extremely confused. In fact, Maggies (except maybe the 30.1s) should ALWAYS be paired with a sub so the sub can handle the low Hz and the Maggies don't have to work as hard. Then that ri...
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@wolf_garcia  I believe some horn speakers built today have gotten much better at imaging than horn speakers of the past, but if you're a fan of imaging, there are still a lot of horn speakers that don't image real well. I for one am a big fan of...
What I really hate about some music
The first two are basically the same complaint, overdone repetition, with Kiss's Rock and Roll All Nite being one of the worst offenders. I think they repeat the line "I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day" something like 32 times at...
Why Music Has Lost it’s Charms (Article)
@parker65310 "There is an incredible variety of great music still being created all the time. One just has to keep an open mind and be curious and willing to put the time in to search it out."  The fact that we have to search it out rather than ...
Best Sound Track Ever Vote for One
I feel very strongly that this category must be split into two categories, soundtracks of existing recordings and soundtracks composed for the movie. I think the first is relatively simple to do (see both "Dazed and Confused" and "Almost Famous")....
Isn't it really about quality of recording?
I like chasing tail. Even managed to catch a few along the way.
Full range speaker recommendation
I bought my Magnepan 20.1s ($12,500 new) used on Audiogon for $5,500. I absolutely love them. Definitely keep the REL subs for some extra bass punch and with those mono blocks, you have plenty of power to drive the Maggies. I see a few other sugge...
A perfect song? What are your choices?
My Cherie Amour - Stevie Wonder - It's just so damn melodic. A close second, Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen - The energy he adds with that pounding piano nearing the end of the song is so powerful.
