Why pay so much?
Uberwaltz,The answer is to inform music lovers of the fallacy of spending lots of money on goofy expensive cabling which is unnecessary.
Why pay so much?
Well, I think the OP makes a very rational point, one that I completely agree with. The cost vs. benefit proposition goes completely off the rails with uber-expensive cabling.  I have Triode Wire Labs and Cerious Technology ICs's and power cables ...
Chord Dave
My audio pal just got a Dave and in a short period of time, thoroughly prefers it to his fully upgraded Denafrips Terminator.  Now that I am a pensioner, I think I will content myself with the performance of my Ayre Codex.  My upgrade from 4 diffe...
Supratek or Don Sachs - which way to go?
Gents,Coming my way next week is Don Sachs' newest iteration of his preamp.  I had one of the first original preamps he made and it was and is fantastic.  His cap and wiring upgrades took it to even greater levels of performance. His new preamp ha...
Supratek or Don Sachs - which way to go?
I have one of Don Sachs first preamps, since fully upgraded, but I decided to buy his new preamp, which accommodates the new WE6SN7 tubes that Don prefers and which has several enhancements over his current preamp.  His current preamp is far and a...
High value, giant killer speakers?
In my opinion, the Spatial Audio speakers are the highest value speakers in the audio world.  The new M-series Sapphire speakers are likely to be a demonstrable improvement over the existing Triode Master variants.
What are some of the most underrated and overrated loudspeakers you’ve auditioned?
Beyond a doubt, the least favorite speakers I have ever owned were the KEF LS50's.  I had a 180-wpc Plinius integrated amp which drove them poorly and they were bright and harsh sounding. Of all the speakers I have personally owned, they were simp...
Carver 275 Crimson tube amp --- any feedback appreciated
I'd be keen to hear that comparison myself.  I'd sure like to hear the Carver amp myself.  I got a Don Sachs Kootenai amp KT88 amp 6 months ago and I am overwhelmed with it.  Far and away the best tube amp I have ever in my system.
Quick and free fuse tweak
"Fuseheads" never rest, do they?  Proper isolation for a toroidal transformer, however, does make plenty of sense.  The egg crate placement is just a low end version of room treatment and may well be beneficial.
Ended my Qobuz subscription
Yes, there are no Karen Souza recordings on Qobuz, to mention only one artist.  There is a deep hole in their catalogue.

There are plenty of sited that send you a new word of the day, all of them I enjoy.   Tidal is very good.
Ended my Qobuz subscription
Yes, of course, the word is trisyllabic, foolish of me that can't count to three.   As a wordsmith, I feel shame.  I am back to the familiar Tidal offerings and the SQ is just fine.

Mayor...Might I be inclined to unleash some trisyllabic words on this group?  This is good fun.
My expert tips on building a sensible world class audio system.
Viper7,You have created the most humorous post I have ever read on AG, simply brilliant.  Many of the respondents have riffed on in the spirit of your OP.  Thanks, man, keep it coming, expose the folly of maximum audio nervosa!  You are spot on!  ...

I get a kick out of you guys ribbing me about using an unfamiliar bisyllabic word.  To have made it easier for you to understand my point, I should have used a more familiar word, such as "deficit."  I am back with Tidal and happy as can be.
