MP150 or MP200
Wolfie62 would you share a few of those combos that you’ve tried and recommend? I’m looking to explore some different vintage carts.
Why Crazy Prices paid for Pioneer 100 JBL L100 AR1 AR3 AR3A
The nostalgia craze hits most hobbies after 30- 40 years. Anything that was desirable when people were growing up becomes attractive when they are older and have money. Try buying a vintage 70s muscle car these days! Old crap receivers are going f...
Speakers that are a great value!
Having owned a custom speaker manufacturing company, I can tell you that the OP is absolutely correct. There are many speakers listed here I could not have produced for the cost that they sell for if I built one pair. There is incredible value to ...
Just confused
I’ve just been thru this. Concrete slab floor is great for vibration control. Rubber feet sounded much better than spikes. Might be because it’s hard to get 4 spikes perfectly balanced on concrete with zero movement. They always rock a bit. So, I ...
2 amplifiers connected to 1 set of speakers
Ghasly, your answer in your original post is the correct one and the best answer here. Both amps will be connected to each other and bad things will happen. Even when they are not both turned on. Keep doing it the way you are now and nothing bad c...
What do you think causes the crackle and clicks we hear?
I can’t answer the why. I don’t know what causes the clicks and pops. I do know that a good cleaning helps. I use an RCM and I do a rinse and vac after using a cleaner. I use pure distilled water to rinse even though I’ve been told the water molec...
Has anyone else auditioned something that really was terrible?
I’ve heard whole systems that were bad -but I know it was how the dealer had them set up. McIntosh amps and pre, Paradigm towers, JL Gotham subs, etc.  It was disappointing, but I’m sure if done right the equipment would have performed well. manuf...
Question about Tone Controls + Equalizers
The OP was talking about LP playback. Many of you recommended DSP. That means digitizing the LP playback in order to manipulate the signal digitally.  Why would you do that? Use a digital source if you want to use DSP. Use analog tone controls or ...
Is it all worth it?
I play mostly vinyl. But after a few (or more) adult beverages, I will switch to a digital source. Of course finding new music through streaming services is an amazing advantage
Super tweeter for FullRange Driver
the Fostex is a good choice. I’ve used the Heil AMT 1D tweeters with great results as well
Hey K.....tt, Do you even have speakers??
kenjit, I didn’t ask if the PMCs were perfect. You didn’t answer my question. In fact you have avoided every question asked of you. As expected.
Hey K.....tt, Do you even have speakers??
I’m familiar with the PMCs mentioned. These are great stand mounts compared to many available for the price. I can’t imagine anyone owning them that feels they are a ripoff. Or that the manufacturer could have given the buyer so much more, if only...
What do you say to your audiophile friends who say you just listen to your equipment more
I think it’s rare that someone is in this hobby only for the gear.  I’ve met many audiophiles, and while we often do get criticized about the gear we are mostly avid music collectors. If you spend as much time searching out new music as you do new...
Bi-amp crossover recommendations
Tanks for the tips. Racamuti, the amps I want to use are different. Both are restored Bedini amps. The 25/25 DE has better mids and high range, the 100/100 DE has better bass control. Arian, this is being used for speaker design development. I’m m...
Is There any Consensus at all amongst Audiophiles?
Atdavid, I think we are saying the same thing- no unintended alteration from input to output. That’s my goal. I had assumed it was everyone’s goal.
