What's under YOUR CD player?
I put a DIY sandbox under my Sony 9000ES and swapped the stock power cord for one of Ernie's DIY Belden Firewire power cords -- made a BIG difference in the sound. The CDP now sounds a lot smoother with much more detail.
NHT 2.3A vs. NHT 3.3 original model
Thanks -- that's the kind of info that I was hoping to get!A question, though -- you mention that this was one of NHT's initial products. Are you thinking of the plain 2.3, as oppposed to the 2.3A? The 2.3 was introduced in 1991, while the 2.3A wa...
Hi end audio who cares
It's a mix . . . . my dad heard my system, and went home and dug out all his old records and his old Panasonic system and started hooking everything up. I bought him a new Rotel TT for Christmas and gave him a Denon DD/DTS receiver that I had in t...
NHT 2.3A vs. NHT 3.3 original model
Bigtee --Thanks for the input! Unfortunately "there is NO comparison" doesn't really provide any details on where the 2.3As performance is lacking re: the 3.3 (or the 2.5, for that matter).Since you've obviously heard all three speakers, what did ...
Hot $30 tweak for Rotel RCD-971 - Amazing results
How hard is it to wire inside the Rotel? I've been pondering doing the same thing with my Rotel 981 power amp, which for some inexplicable reason has a hardwired power cord. I put one of Ernie's Beldens on my Sony 9000ES, and it was a VERY nice im...
Three days until Christmas
Ditto from me! Have a joyous holiday season, and may everyone's new year be filled with lots of warmth, love, and cool new audio gear!Pat
CDR's in a DVP9000es
From what I understand, the 9000ES will play Sony CD-Rs, but no others.
What's My Problem?
Audiokinesis --Disregard my last post. The 2.1s do, of course, have a midwoofer that is different from the two woofers. I was thinking of the fact that their mids are the same as the OTHER NHT speakers I have . . . .Pat
What's My Problem?
Audiokinesis --That's really interesting . . . . could that explain why the 2.1s sound better than the 2.3As? The 2.1s have three identical 6-inch woofers and a tweeter, while the 2.3As have two identical 6-inch woofers, then a DIFFERENT midrange,...
What's My Problem?
Wow -- thanks for the great response!!I've got some more info:I had an idea that I SHOULD have had earlier, but didn't think of until I saw Warrenh's post mentioned changing amps OR SPEAKERS. Well, I have three other pairs of NHT speakers in my HT...
What's My Problem?
Sean --I don't think it was the 981 if it was a recent review -- the 981 has been out of production for a couple of years. However, if a new Rotel amp had that problem, then an older one might have it as well . . . . I'll have to poke around and s...
How to improve 2-channel performance in HT rig?
Tsmack --Thanks for the suggestions!I'm using Signal Cable Analog Two interconnects for the CD playback chain, and I just put a DIY Belden power cord on the 9000ES (for a nice improvement!).Right now, I'm not convinced that the problems that I'm h...
Anyone ever have claims for damage with UPS?
Good luck . . . . I had a package shipped via UPS that was packed by one of UPS's approved Mailboxes Etc. type places. UPS beat up the box and damaged the Rotel amp that was inside. Now they're refusing to pay the claim because the SELLER doesn't ...
Improve sound - 67SE bypass DC1?
Phil --I'm not personally familiar with the 67SE, but I'd say that you should DEFINITELY bypass the DC-1. I have a DC-1/S9000ES combo, and I get much better results not using the Lexicon for 2-channel playback. What I did is to use the 9000ES's int...
How to improve 2-channel performance in HT rig?
The passive pre is here and installed -- makes a BIG difference. The sound is much more detailed without the Lexicon in the chain, and vocals are a little more rounded with better weight. Bass is about the same, which is good since I was happy wit...
