Sure is a lot of drug use in this forum!  Or "was" I suppose. I missed all the fun, not being old enough. I think "Year of the Cat" was a few years later btw.
Again the topic of weight of amps
Encouraging the OP to not at least give a good class D amp a free in-home audition for a month is just willful ignorance, akin to encouraging not hiring the most intelligent and competent black job applicant because of their skin color. Well, I re...
A recent thread about speaker/floor isolation
Another very effective measure is to have wall-to-wall carpeting in your listening room, preferably installed over resilient padding. Makes a tremendous difference acoustically. Just don't spill your red wine on it. Unless it's red-wine-colored, t...
What about 2 separate audio systems as one?
Following up to say that my good friend and beloved life partner B. Shabaz passed away today, and has gone on to his reward. He never quite got over the shellacking he received in this forum, and his final years were full of bitterness and recrimi...
What are the top 3 dream speakers you wanna buy next regardless of price?
Over the years, many super-expensive loudspeakers have caught my eye and a few have caught my ears, but in the real world I just wouldn’t be happy spending six figures. Especially since I believe diminishing returns set in somewhere around $1000...
Which Stands for Magnepan LRS (and other models): Mye, Magnariser, Sound Anchor, etc
Boxers are very sweet doggies.(I assume you’re talking about your dogs and not your shorts.)
Which Stands for Magnepan LRS (and other models): Mye, Magnariser, Sound Anchor, etc
BTW, the Magnestands weren’t really a stand per se. You’re very right, and I wish I had the privilege of hearing the Magnestands. I meant to type Mye Stands--premature senility may be setting in around here!I had the Myes for the 1.7 but agree tha...
Which Stands for Magnepan LRS (and other models): Mye, Magnariser, Sound Anchor, etc
FWIW, I’ve used Magnestands and Sound Anchors. On the smaller Maggies I definitely prefer the SAs as they raise the panels up off the floor and the result is added air and spaciousness to the presentation. The resolution and imaging seem to improv...
Basic integrated amp for $700-$900
only avail in black in the US This happens with so many brands. In Asia and Europe they offer a choice of black or silver but in the U.S. it's black or nothing. Very disappointing.
Can You Fell the Love Tonight?
Use an axe. If that doesn't work, try a chain saw.
I lied to my wife about the price of Stax 009S headphone
As a person of Asian descent it always makes me cringe when I see fellow Asians bragging. Unfortunately I see it a lot. Makes me sad for them.
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
Good sales pitch! I’m by no means tired of tower speakers but I have to agree that the Lintons with their dedicated stands make for a compelling visual package. Look forward to hearing them.
Why no Class D integrated love? (from manufacturers)
Considering how good and how cheap chip amps like the 3255 are, I’m looking forward to some greatly improved implementations in the realm of single-box integrateds. Even a very good, full-featured one should cost well under $1000.Full-featured doe...
I went from Class D to Luxman A/AB - And most of what you think is wrong
Agree with Paul Creed. I still have and love some old-fashioned A/B amps, but each year finds me with more D types around the house. And I’m never, ever buying another 100-lb amp--or anything close--ever again. Those days are gone for good. And goo...
Thoughts on extending speaker life.
Thanks phusis. Some of my speakers are very fine and I do want to maintain them in as good a shape as possible. Can't listen to them all though. I guess this means I have too many. Or not....
