Hydra-what cords do you use to your components?
Jtinn, I would be intrested to know what you had the Taipan plugged into it. I found it to be alittle to bright on the Plinius SA-102's.
Which is better, Lex. DC 1 or Theta Casanova
The Casanova is one of the most musical HT pieces I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. It is basiclly a slightly paired down version of the Casablanca II. Paired with the dreadnaught or some Plinius amps and you well have one sweet sounding sy...
Solid State Integrated in 1500- 1800 range ?
The Pliunis 8100 is a great little integrated. It is based off the SA topography. It is a great sounding intergated amp coupled with dunlavy speakers.

NBS Statements all around. If you look you can always get a great deal on used ones.
SACD/CD functions breaking in separatly?
I was under the impression that the lasers and there associated electronics also require a burn in. Once they combine the burn in is from either side but the lasers are not the same. I found each side needed 400 + hours to really smooth out.
Easy way to find that hard to get import.
I've found www.cdconnection.com to have the best selection of cd's. They often will have two or three import choices.

Most self promoting, over-rated profession:Audio Engineers for mass production lables. Proof? Diana Krall! When I hear a guy on this site tell us "I'm an recording engineer..." I move on to the next post.
Average age of audiophiles
I was 44 until I ran into an old high school friend a month ago who pointed out I was actually 45. If I take the "Dekay" factor (not decay factor) I subtract three years so I end up at 42. I started when I was 15 (working three jobs) with a Marant...

I'll let you know what they sound like... my boss put in an order for a Gen VIII and it turned out to be the very first order on the books. I can't wait to see what the new one does.Judd
Acoustic Zen vs. Nordost - wchich one to choose?
Well I don't know if I would say they are the best regardless of price, there are many mega buck cables that I would own before the Acoustic Zen's. We had them in my dad's reference system (Dunlavy I/Va's, 2 alioa amps, Kora preamp, Sony SACD-1) a...
Are you Guys Rich or What!?
I find that living with a parent who is obsessed with audio equipment is the way to go, you get to listen to there reference level system for free.Judd
Best rack that can be built into the wall
I don't know that they are "the best", but I just saw the neatest stand that would be perfect for just that. They are stand design stands www.standesign.com what's so great about these stands is you can hook this metal attachment onto the front of...
may i put an hdtv over a fireplace?
although I would agree that the programning on TV these days is crap, you have to admit that an HDTV signal is really pretty amazing. I would say it is as good if not better then DVD. And it certainly blows "normal" sat. images away.Judd MacRae
which direction do this cable go?
If there is an arrow the arrow pionts in the direction of the signal flow. It really should not matter though. Once you've used them a while they will settle in to which ever direction you use. Once you've used them I would keep the direction the ...
