Speaker Recommendation Needed
In that price range, for classical music, I'd suggest a pair of Magnepan MG12s. They do like a good helping of power, tho...
What Speakers Do Audio Insiders Own?
Stereophile occasionally visits with musicians and producers, and it seems that many of them have boom boxes, don't pay a lot of attention to home audio. But Tony Levin was intereviewed in 2001, not too long after he bought an all Linn system. He ...
Speaker Daze Budget of 1500-2000
Read the VR2 set up instructions http://www.vonschweikert.com/manuals/manual_vr_2.pdfThey'd probably work in your room, but I get the sense they like a bigger space. I decided the VR2s were too much speaker for my room (and my wife) and went with ...
Music that always ends up being played
In recent years, Lyle Lovett's 'Step Inside This House' has rarely gotten re-filed; it's always next to the CD player
Best Monitors for Rock N' Roll under $2500
I'm real happy with my Revel Performa M-20s, which are in your price range new and about half that used. If I had $2500 to spend on used monitors, I'd try to hear the Totem Mani 2's.
You might be an audiophile if...
you own more than one Alan Parsons CD...and actually listen to them...

Can IC's and Speaker Wire drastically affect bass?
Seems rather a puzzler. I very much doubt that cabling changes will take you from no bass to mucho bass.Random thought, don't be offended that I asked, but are these speakers set up for bi-wiring? Is there any chance that you're just running your ...
What's the funniest song you ever heard?
Alpha Team - Speed (Hardcore remix)Sort of a techno thing, with samples from the old Speed Racer cartoon mixed together into a hilarious climax.
CD stuck in Player---Help---Bebel Gilberto
Tante Tempo is indeed a great CD. I thought the new one didn't measure up...until it got stuck in my CD player one night. Now, I'd say it's a toss up between the two. I would steer people clear of the Tante Tempo Remixes disc though.
How Big is Your Music Collection
I have nearly 1,900 commercial CD titles, about 50 SACDs, a couple hundred LPs and more cassettes and CDRs than you can shake a stick at.
Audiogon "SACD's TO DIE FOR" list
The one that leaps to mind that no one has yet mentioned is Jerry Douglas' 'Lookout For Hope'. Kind of a jazz-newgrass fusion with stunning presence. Top marks for both music and sound.
Do you remember your first cd?
In anticipation of buying my first CD player (circa 1985), I bought about a dozen CDs, including:Talking Heads - Fear of Music - Remain In LightKing Crimson - DisciplineBrian Eno - Desert Island Collection (the individual albums had not yet been ...
Best Jazz and Rock & Roll HDCD CDs
Any of the HDCDs on David Grisman's Acoustic Disc label. I'd particularly recommend 'The Pizza Tapes'. It puts Grisman, Jerry Garcia, and Tony Rice IN your living room.
