Does this image give you claustrophobia?
Looking at it mostly just makes my back hurt.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program after that (not so) brief commercial break....
Best used speakers under $10000
Your experience with the Ref 5 does not surprise me.  I tried mine with an MC275 and, though nice, it lacked in punch and overall dynamics.  They really like a high-current amp with lots of power.  I have switched over to the Electrocompaniet Nemo...
Best used speakers under $10000
Based on your criteria, you should also look at PMC fact.8.  You should be able to get these in your price range new and they have excellent clarity and are wonderful with the type of music you listed.  I have a pair in my bedroom system and work ...
KEF blades 2 or Dynaudio C4?
yyzsantabarbara, my room is a only a bit bigger than yours.  I did not have the Blade 2s in my room, but my dealer had a room where we could replicate my room fairly well so, though not perfect, I was able to get a feel for how they would sound wh...
KEF blades 2 or Dynaudio C4?
I compared the Blade 2 with the Reference 5 and found that the Reference 5 worked better in my room.  The Blades do better away from walls but I was not able to position my speakers more than a foot and a half away from the back wall.  The tunable...
Narrowed to 3: 802D3, Sopra 3, Reference 3
I have the Ref 5 and can say that they are detailed and throw a wide and precise image. The bass is fast and they go deeper than you think they should. I did compare them with the B&Ws and the Ref 5 was a step above to my ears.
LOUNDSPEAKER FOR $10,000.00 PER PAIR
In that price range, I love the PMC fact.8s I have in my bedroom system. They are fast, clean and articulate with excellent imaging for the type of music you like.

I have not had a chance to try any of the ZYX carts, but have tried a few Urushi variants.  I have a TNT II with a Graham 1.5 and now use a Kiseki Purpleheart.  They can be had for $3200 and is a fantastic cart.  From the Kiseki website:VPI Founde...
Is Usher still around
Yes, Usher is definitely still around and is, in fact, touring now.  Last I heard, he was trying to get the herpes lawsuit against him dismissed.  I have not seen any updates on new releases, however.
McIntosh Guy Going Tubes? (Maybe?)
bradlye, if you do a Google search on the C1100, you'll find a larger discussion on another forum.  Feel free to PM me if you would like more of my personal impressions.
McIntosh Guy Going Tubes? (Maybe?)
I had an MC275 VI with a C1100 and found the match really wonderful.  The C1100 is dead quiet and cast a wonderful soundstage.  If you have the budget, don't need the built-in DAC and have space for a two box setup, I highly recommend an audition.
New KEF Reference 5 speakers
I started with an MC275 (90 wpc) with my Reference 5s and the sound was good.  Very smooth with nice mids and smooth highs.  Not the best resolution, but cast a fairly good sound stage.I moved to Electrocompaniet Nemo monoblocks and the Reference ...

KEF uses Electrocompaniet Nemo monoblocks to drive the Blades in their factory museum:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQBOMv4LY2EThey might know a little something about driving them....
