Experiences Selling Stuff On Audiogon?
Audiogon member since 2003. As I’ve gone into the rabbit hole of this hobby, I have made tons of purchases over the years here, and on other sites. Only in the last 5 years have I had any problems. These items, all rated as 8 or 9, arrived in the ...
how to set up good home theater sound (and picture)
I forgot to mention - for most music, I use the Apple TV as a Roon endpoint. Sound quality through the Marantz is surprisingly good. I also use a Squeezebox Touch with the Marantz which is even better.

What are you using for amplification? I use a Marantz 7011 receiver which is basically your 7702 processor plus a built-in 9 channel amplifier. I use Apple TV for streaming and it sounds quite good. My Marantz system is in the same room as my refe...
Purchase breaks well within 30 days
I have been hesitant to buy used components because of experiences I have had that are simiar to the OP’s. Bought an expensive amp - it worked for 2 hours and then began to buzz loudly through one speaker. Bought a power conditioner - its built in...
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC
@ddafoe, my perception of the Mojo and high frequency detail was upended when I bought a pair of Altec Lansing Valencia speakers last month. The horn based Valencias have their faults, but their presentation of cymbals has been revelatory to me. I...
Thinking about getting a R2R DAC
Choosing a dac is like choosing any other audio component. There are compromises to be made. Proponents of R2R dac's, so it goes, are attracted to the notion of simpler signal paths. With no filtering, noise shaping, error correction, upsampling o...
A Couple Little Things I'm Wondering About
Cable lifters can help separate speaker cables and interconnects from power cords, which can help to reduce or eliminate noise in your system. My previous system had issues when power cords were too close to other cables, so cable lifters helped t...
SET amps
There is an audiophile who keeps a blog called Glow in the Dark Audio. He has written reviews of many different affordable set amps. You might want to check it out. http://www.glowinthedarkaudio.com/amps.html
Member Almarg passed away last night
I am very sad to hear of Al's passing. I will miss his always informative posts, and most of all I will miss the way he treated everyone with respect and dignity. Peace be with you.
What the heck did I do
1. Check to see if the little magnet is still there. If it is, make sure it is properly aligned with the sensor.2. You might have bumped or otherwise slightly moved the sensor when you removed your platter. It needs to be very close to the platter.
SET 45 and their (real) required speaker efficiency
I just got a pair of 45 mono blocks and am pleasantly surprised with how they compare to my 300b amps. To my ears, my 45 set amps can play subjectively louder than my 300b's with less distortion. I often don't realize how loud the volume is when I...

Cerious Tech Graphene vs Synergistic Foundation SC
With Matrix, the soundstage is deeper and wider. Better tone and a better sense of images being properly sized. More effortless. Less smeared. Less attention drawn to the speakers and more of a sense that a performance "woven from one piece of clo...
Cerious Tech Graphene vs Synergistic Foundation SC
I preferred the Cerious Graphene Extreme over Synergistic Black. SR Black was in the same price range as the SR Foundation cable that you are considering. Cerious GE has a fuller bodied sound and passes along detail at least as well as the SR Blac...
Reviews on SVS SB/PB 3000, Paradigm's seismic 110 subwoofer
I haven't heard the Seismic 100, so I am unable to comment. I chose SVS because they offer a 45 day trial period and free return shipping, and they will give you a 100% trade in allowance if you want to upgrade within one year of purchase. The gen...
