The best speaker you ever heard?
The best I have 'ever heard' would have been different auditions at different times in my life; each leaving an indelible impression in my auditory memory. I haven't 'owned' any of these however but would love to enjoy them someday.KEF 107/2 Raymo...

I Haven't Seen These In Years...
Pioneer HPM-100. Still a great sounding and looking speaker (at least, from a vintage aspect). While I prefer my PMCs, the Pioneers are a great speaker for classic rock.
Zu Soul Superfly
My wife bought a pair at the RMAF. We now have them set up with both a vintage (NOSValves Modified) Scott 299D tube integrated amp and a Peachtree Nova and they are really sounding sweet. Took a bit of time to break in but even out of the box they...
Silverline Minuet "Supreme"
I'm currently evaluating a pair of PMC TB2i's (which are excellent) but also am very interested in the Minuets as I was very impressed with them at the RMAF and in fact bought a pair of Silverline Preludes (small floorstanders) as a result. It may...
Recording vinyl into itunes- Best Method?
Actually, I am quite happy with the turntable I have and have to connect to my iMac via usb to import to it. I am now looking at preamps with usb outputs like the Art V2.
Recording vinyl into itunes- Best Method?
With the Xitel, I was hooking up the output of the turntable into the Xitel and then via usb into my iMac. If I go with a usb turntable (currently looking at the Project III usb turntable) I would hook up directly to the computer. My audio system ...
ZU OMEN speakers 12ohms??
Sebrof,Yes, we received the Superfly's (Superflies?) a couple of weeks ago and love them. At first I thought the sound was a bit too forward but I think that was only in contrast to the speakers I had replaced them with, which were more recessed i...
MartinLogan CLS IIz panel upgrade
I'm on order for a new pair of panels for my CLS 1's. Mine are still going strong as well but figure new ones should make my CLS last for another 20 years. Please let me know how your sound as Dana told me new ones will be more dynamic and clean s...
ZU OMEN speakers 12ohms??
I listened to the Omens at length at the RMAF last month and they absolutely destroyed quite a lot of the competition costing multiple amounts more. (No, I don't work for or have ANY connection to Zu). The fact they were selling them for $995 push...
Zu Soul Superfly
My wife and I were at the RMAF this year and went to a couple of the Zu rooms (big room where the Omens were sharing space with a couple of other systems and their dedicated room with the Soul Superfly's). We really enjoyed both speakers as we lik...
LSA 1 Monitors in a small room??
My wife and I went to the LSA room at the RMAF several times last weekend and I had to drag my wife away down the hall kicking as she wanted to buy them on the spot (it's usually the other way around concerning stereo gear). They are truly excelle...
the clue by Sjofn HiFi at RMAF
I popped by to room to 'get a clue' and was pleasantly surprised. Very even sound. I listened to one of my audition tracks there and left with a smile. Nice job for the price ($999, I believe).
Single driver point source speakers vs. the world?
I'm not saying I will rule single driver speakers out forever; just waiting for one that will knock my socks off. Just haven't heard it yet. I've almost purchased a pair of Hornshoppe Horns a few times but for whatever reason the deal didn't work ...
Single driver point source speakers vs. the world?
I guess I am just one of the ones who "don't get it". At least with what I have heard so far in the single driver camp. I listened to a pair of Rethms at length and had a pair of big Cardersound (Madisons) and wanted to like both but didn't. To be...
