Thanks for your response. It seems I have no choice but send it to Krell.
ESP Speakers
Hi Guys. After a long search, I finally found and purchased an old pair of ESP Concert Grands mark 1. However, they need some repair. I wonder if anybody here knows perchance how Can I access the drivers of these speakers. The top plate seems to b...
Jadis ja-200 vs ja500
Update: Bought old Jadis JP80 and connected it to the JA30. WOW! Right now I feel no need for a bigger Jadis amp. Amazing resolution, depth, bass, dynamics, emotion. So it seems like the problem was in the preamp, not the amps.  Thanks for all res...
Spade vs bare wire
I had my XLO 5.1 connected to my ESP speakers directly, through wire soldering. I then for convenience sake replaced that with WBT 0702.12 on the speaker's side and direct on the amp binding posts (Luxman m900U). Result: the connection via the WBT...
Jadis ja-200 vs ja500
Thank you, guys. Very good comments, just what I was looking for. Rcprince, the JA30 is indeed a wonderful amp. I tried it with kt88 and El 34. It sounds amazing on my quad 57 (for those looking for a good match with those), but on my ESP Bodhran,...
Luxman M900u stereo vs Mono setup
One suggestion to increase the power/attack of the M900U that worked for me: Turn off the meters.
ESP Speakers
An update on my adventure with ESP Bodhran SE.After measuring the impedance of the speakers, something I should have perhaps done long ago, I was surprised to see that it was 4 and not 8 ohms, as the manufacturer states on his website. I changed t...
Step down transformers for japanese gear
I should stress that not every step-down transformer would do for hi-end applications. Transformers can impart their own sonics on the sound. The one I recommend is audio-grade, isolation(!) transformer, with low(!) radiation. I measured the radia...
Jadis JA-80: Tubes and speakers.
One last note to put the record straight. it turns out the problem I had with the Jadis was just tube matching. After measuring the tubes (KT-120) and matching them properly, it now works perfectly: no problem of bloated bass or speakers matching....
Jadis JA-80: Tubes and speakers.
Thanks for all the responses. rhljaz, I did try another preamp, the Luxman C900u. To my ears The JA80 sounded better with the JPL. About speaker synergy, I also tried another modern speaker, the results were somewhat better but not what I was look...
ESP Speakers
Hi Guys,First, I wanted to thank rhljazz for his help. I should have done it sooner but life took me in other directions lately. I was finally able to refurbish the ESP crossovers on my own. While at it, I changed some parts (caps, resistors) to h...
Luxman m-900u owners - quick question
I also have M900U and C900U. Had Jadis and other hi quality tube amplifiers in the past and now switched with the Luxmans to SS. I am very happy.
ESP Speakers
Hi Guys. Do you have a schematics of the crossovers of the Bodhrans? After living for a few months with my speakers I came to the conclusion that something was wrong. I just couldn't get them to image properly. So a few days ago I unscrewed the bo...
Luxman M900U any experience ?
I want to second your impressions of the Luxman m900u. I have it with the matching preamplifier, C900U and I think I now get the best sound I ever heard anywhere. I used to be a tube guy and owned Jadis, Ear, and other quite good pre/power combina...
ESP Speakers
Last update: After some soldering and some tweaking, the sound now is excellent: open, detailed, dynamic, very musical. What a wonderful speaker.
