Questions about a new Ruby 2 cartridge
Zaikesman, hooray for the clarity of your post, it makes perfect sense and explains to a non technical guy like me why pass labs gave the option for resistors. if i can figure out where to get them i know where my spare time is going over the next...

Vikvilkhu, what phono stage do you have now?
Questions about a new Ruby 2 cartridge
i'm using a VPI Aries,JMW arm w/ a ruby 2h, and the pass labs ono phono stage. you have to let the ruby break in before you listen critically, cause until it's played awhile you are not hearing what you will end up with at all. the vta is critical...
New TT for around 2000--- need some advice
my aries is on a salamander rack on a wooden floor in a fairly small room. I did need some isolation (desperately) back when I had a p25, but only when I moved up in cartridges from a grado master (around 4.5mV I think) to a grado statement at .5m...
New TT for around 2000--- need some advice
just a thought:having vta easily adjustable while listening to an lp is a great advantage I've found with my aries/jmw 10. I am able to quickly find "the sweeet spot" and often find that by doing so, records that were just ok (or worse) on my p25 ...
little known musicians we should hear

How much better are the Classic 45 rpm vs 33 LPs?
i own a bunch of them. many are great, not every one though, so i no longer buy them without hearing them first. they are way better then the classic 33 of the same title, but if you own early pressings or white label promos, some of those will be...
Time for a new turntable......
when i had a rega p3 and was using a black cube, i tried a number of carts and preamps to improve the sonics. they were all different and some did offer improvement(s). then i moved up in the rega line and eventually out of it with a vpi aires . b...
New Stones DSD disc's...Anybody heard em' yet?
yup, i've heard all but "now" and they are all very good indeed(cd layer) - for cds. (played 'em on a naim cd5)i was getting carried away with them, thinking i'd never heard the stones sound so good! then i stepped back and a/b'd them to my best v...
Phono Amp Recommendations
what is your budget? what kind of turntable will it be working with? cart? preamp?
help please. i need opinions of high output carts
ouch! i promise to go into intensive typing rehab asap. my statement is .45 mv not 4.5 (of course). sorry to waste people's time like that, but please give me your thoughts now that i've made mine a bit clearer. i got my statement from john grado ...
phono stage or preamp suggestions
if on a budget the black cube is nice for the price. i just switched from my black cube to a preamp w/phono stage that a friend of mine suggested i try. it is an old advent 300. it contains a tuner, preamp and amp. the tuner is actually ok. i have...
