How does wood hardness affect the sound of a TT on a wood TT platform?
After nearly 4 years, the OP probably gave up and got real a real isolation platform-Minus K.
Musical Expectation Bias
"What does the "R" in PRAT stand for?" IMO- just another goofy audiophool term. Humans have it- electronics just record and play it back. Some better than others.
Musical Expectation Bias
The article subject is rhythm. I see no relation with audio equipment nerd things like "tube holography."
Technics SL-1200GAE or VPI HW-40 or …?
At the  very least for any setup-a clamp with rubber washer to dish the LP flat to the platter.  Nothing more disturbing than seeing arm moving up/down on a warped LP.
Clean power and it's affect on sound quality
This thread got me thinking about a post retirement gig- audiophool approved Romex- burned in/cry'ed spools, proudly labeled- "Assembled in USA, MIC sourced" Tour the audio show circuit with bikini models handing out swatches  of 10/3? PM, if ...
Clean power and it's affect on sound quality
"The older home had a warmer tone due to 50 years of copper wiring being burned in. My new house is brighter because the copper wiring hasn't been burned in yet." HUH? We need to "burn in" the house wiring?
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
To "compare" arms, one needs a 2/3 arm setup with similar cart, plugged into multi input phonostage-both arms on LP playing. Now you can start talkin... If there's someone who actually does that, I'm envious you have the time/resources for such ...
Visit to Mike Lavigne's house
Good read. You can hear a great setup even on a cell phone. ML's setup if one of the few you can just look at and expect great things. Ella's version of Misty was a good choice. I take the 1960 LP soundtrack-"Let No Man Write My Epitaph" to dem...
Question about adjusting the balance
Don't  be put off by "lopsided" speaker placement to achieve center focus of the stereo image.     Your hearing and gear are not perfect (L/R balance) Imagine adjusting binoculars. The alternative is full techie absolute- mic/software, laser po...
VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help!
Ralph@atmasphere or someone technical needs to chime on  this one. Curious to read their take.
VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help!
"guess it wouldn't hurt to pick up the Fatboy Gimbal & A/B.." I thought  the gimbal was standard  on Prime Signature? Guess not. My Lyra experiences were with the low tech uni pivot.  Good luck finding what the culprit is.
VPI Prime Sig/Lyra Delos / Feedback ...help!
"funny how VPI and also Lyra recommend this cartridge with the table and the arm I have" File this under "on paper it's  not supposed to work, but it might" category. I've heard more than a few Lyra on VPI's, and they all seemed to sound good. ...
A Big Shout out to TAP Electronics
Great to hear about another resource for competent repair. I'm in Long Beach-half hour away. Thanks for bringing attention to Tap Electronics.
Most impactful for playing soft
Listening in Ultralinear is NO CO$T and should be used.how about headphones? The PL has a good headphone section.  Longtime PL user here. KT 150's will give a more impactful sound, which might be noticed during low level listening. As mentioned-...
