Headshell leads and Arche headshell
Peterayer, from what I can see usually, the hinge screw generally has enough tension to keep the mounting plate stationary in one place. When playing, there will also be more force to push the mounting plate up toward the headshell.I don't think t...

Dover, I think you may misunderstand my post a bit and I think that I did not make a good description of my problem. If you look at Arche website, the mounting plate is mounted flat up against the headshell which is fine. Mounting plate is attached...

There should not be any problem with Koetsu cartridge unless you use one of those very stiff headshell leads, I would think.I find Oyaide/Ortofon leads too stiff for Koetsu and Arche for sure. Acrolink or simillarly soft leads that would not cause...

Milimetr, my initial impression of Arche HS in comparison to Ikeda HS is quite positiv, much much better than current in production phasetech headshell. Not night and day or anything like from Ikeda but I feel the transition from bass to midrange t...

Syntax, did you shorten your Ikeda lead?Mind looks longer, judging from your picture but it is hard to tell. I have been thinking that if I want to use silver lead, may be shorten it a bit more may help.

My problem is solved for now with Acrolink headshell leads. If Daniel's silver litz wire is also very compliant, it would interesting to try.

I only have one insert so far but will get 2nd Arche for my FR64s for sure though.

Don't know what happened to that thread either. But so far, I am very impressed with Arche. A little hard to say as I changed headshell as well as headshell leads.Acrolink is much easy to deal with than the stiff silver wire and does sound quite a ...

I have Ortofon silver leads as well and still have problem with its stiffness. I think the problem is worse for Koetsu because of the long body and relatively small room between end of cartridge and headshell lead terminals. Silver leads just does...
SUT advice
I use Dynavector SUP-200 with excellent result with Miyajima Zero mono but it is only 0.4 mV so the gain may be a bit much on BE mono. Don't know about Ortofon cartridge but I find the Dyna similar in tonal balance to Ortofon T-100 SUT except for ...
Cartridge and Phono advice for Classic 3
Kpede683, I had Dynavector XV-1s on my old Classic 1 but not on Classic 3 and have Lyra Atlas but on a different table so the comparison is exactly fair I would guess. However, I did hear XV-1s and Atlas on my friend's Classic 3 as well. Dyna was ...
Cartridge and Phono advice for Classic 3
Usually Lyra and Dynavector seems like the most popular cartridges to go with VPI, followed closely by Soundsmith.I have not heard Soundsmith but certainly you can't go wrong with LYra or Dyna depending on your listening preference. If you want to ...
Aluminum Foil test for Audio Desk Vinyl Cleaner
Hmmmm.. I have an ultrasonic bath that I had made for me locally, big enough to soak an entire LP. I just have a plastic label cover with O-ring to protect label. After 10-15s, I get a few holes in foil. I Have been using it for about 3 years now ...
Question on FR 66s
Halcro, thanks again for your information. I will wait for SMARTracker to arrive before experimenting. I assume that once setting P2S to 231.5 and using UNIdin and align it to null point properly, offset angle and overhang would be adjusted to the...
Question on FR 66s
Halcro, thanks for your help. I am already doing No1 at the moment. My Feickert NextGen protractor does not have correction for overhang as far as I can tell. Just set P2S distance and choose geometry and that's about it.A bit of a bummer as I cho...
