Yes, it is a dumb idea. Your TV will never give you good sound because it lacks the power to drive the speakers properly. Even the newest Plasmas out there will not give you great sound with their so-called built in amps.Two suggestions: One- take...

I have to disagree wit Eldarado's post.The MF uses simpler amplifier circuits which result in sound that is more musically transparent and expressive. For me, it is one of the most pleasant sounding amps that I auditioned. (Classes, Krell, Jolida)... 
Interconnects?
I would suggest auditioning Nordost. Since the MF cdp has tubes in it, the nordost (spm or Red Dawn) will provide you with a nice balance of clean sound.I'm currently using Nordost and have the A5 int and CDP.... works well IMHO.
