For a quick good time, blankets...
The flooring halfway between your ears and your speakers, is often the very first of many direct reflections in the listening area.....especially for those that listen in the nearfield. At the very least, a natural fiber rug/carpet and thick rug p...
Audiophile Record Labels
Yarlung Records is consistently outstanding. Hard to beat.
Have ~$10-12k...what would you do?
Have you addressed your listening room yet? Without dialing that in, I wouldn't spend a dime on a new component.
Lumin A-1 or Lumin U1
My Lumin A1 is one of the very best purchasing decisions I've made in the 30+ years in this hobby. In almost two years it's worked flawlessly, and sounds so damn good that I wouldn't dream of replacing it.....which is why I hope like hell that Lum...
Norah Jones
The new album is just ok in my book. Sound quality not up to par with 'Come Away With Me', and definitely far short of 'Not Too Late', which I believe is her best recording. Day Breaks sounds compressed and a little closed in to my ears.
Songs Faber Olympica III
I forgot to add....my toe-in has the tweeters crossing about 2ft behind my head. After a LOT of trial and error, I find this gives the best balance. I am on on a wooden floor on a cement slab as you are, and I found very nice gains in bass definit...
Songs Faber Olympica III
The previous owner must have switched spikes or something, for they definitely come from the factory with shorter ones for the rear, longer ones in front to achieve the proper rake. I tried both inward and outward with the positioning of the ports...
New Bel Canto REF600M using NCORE
This is the first review I've seen of them. He seemed to like them, although not enough to push his Anthem's out the door.http://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php/equipment-reviews/930-bel-canto-design-e-one-ref600m-mono-amplifiershttp://
Back wall treatment?
My advice before you spend some money is to temporarily hang a heavy towel, or a rug in that spot to see if it makes a wholesale improvement. If it does, then some nice absorbent treatment there should do the job. I wouldn't recommend diffusion in...
Sonus Faber Olympica III speaker placement
All of my measurements are to the tweeter. Some people might feel differently, but I believe glass of any kind to be killers in the pursuit of good sound. If it’s a window that has to be used, then maybe a thick noise cancelling drape to cover it....
Sonus Faber Olympica III speaker placement
I have the Olympica III's in a dedicated listening room measuring 22' x 16' x 9'.I have them 50" from the front wall, 44" from the sides, 104" between the speakers, with my ears exactly 104" to each tweeter. They are toed in so they fire just outs...
With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
Myself, I'd buy the Sonus Faber Strad Palladio's just up for sale here for $18.5k Wonderful speakers. Not affiliated with the seller....just a drooling audiophile. ;)
looking for a recording with nice wide soundstage
Sara Bareilles: Brave Enough....Live at the Variety PlayhouseTrust me...
Sonus Faber Olympica III or Vienna Acoustics Lists
Assuming you haven't set the Olympica's up yet, let us know what you think when you have them broken in. The times I've heard them, they really seem to get to the heart of the music. All the meat is there on the bone, without appearing to obscure ...
What is you TIDAL setup?
TIDAL app through my iPad Air via Airplay to my Lumin A1. Works and sounds a treat. Lumin will be offering TIDAL in their own app shortly.
