Helping friends/relatives with system purchases, your experience.
The most difficult but most productive part for me is setting aside my own preferences and prejudices. Without that I'd tend to recommend what I would buy for myself with whatever money they have to spend.
Just got a new Bluesound Node. Very disappointed!
My Node 2i feeding Tidal to a Bel Canto DAC3 has none of the boosted treble you describe, I find the sound very balanced and completely enjoyable.

Haven't dealt with them but stereobuyers.com in New York also buys systems.
Your experience in "in their day" brands/components that you remember foundly?
The Dynaco SCA-35 I built from a kit in 1966 when I was 20 years old. Traded it away when I got an early McIntosh system and have regretted it since. It was my first taste of good sound.
Streaming Qobuz via iPad
I use an iPad Mini to stream Tidal to my Node 2i streamer several hours a day and have never had a dropout or glitch with the high-speed internet connection and strong signal in my listening area. I doubt the Mini is the issue. Yes, the iPad is a...

Speakers Similar to Dali Rubicon 2
Here's a direct link to The Music Room's site which lists the Rubicon 2. In my experience, they're an excellent dealer. https://tmraudio.com/search-results-page?q=dali%20rubicon
How to Add Remote Controlled Volume to Dac + Amp That Doesn't Support It
Second soix' recommendation of a Bel Canto DAC. I have a DAC 3 that works perfectly as both DAC and remote for a tube integrated without remote. I think I paid $700 for it used a few year ago.
Are some streaming players more reliable than others?
I don’t think there’s anything inherently unstable about streaming. I have a fairly simple, relatively inexpensive streaming setup in my main system, Bluesound Node 2i feeding a Ben Canto DAC 3, on to a Raven Audio integrated and have never had a ...
How to secure a large power cord to a piece of equipment?

Buying from Canada!
I based my post on the direct experience of bringing a made-in-England pair of ProAc speakers into Washington State and having to pay a $53 import duty because the speakers were made in England and not covered under the terms of the NAFTA agreemen...
Buying from Canada!
The determining factor for whether you're legally required to pay import duty is where the equipment was made. If it was made in Canada there should be no fee because the U.S., Canada and Mexico are covered by NAFTA, the North American Free Trade ...
What is this piece called?
Well, it definitely has a feminine shape to it so perhaps... La ring lug in either language
Iphone 13 Qobuz to McIntosh 2100 maximum lossless
There aren't any cables that have a built-in DAC. If you use a cable to connect the iPhone to the Mac you will be using the DAC inside the iPhone to convert the music from digital to analog. That will work but is not ideal for the best possible au...
