VPI rimdrive squeaks
the two small belts that drive the rim drive can produce squeaks. if you disconnect the rim from the platter and still hear the squeak, it's coming from the two smaller belts. clean the pulley of the motor well, that should eliminate the squeak.if...
Another VPI or something else for under $2k
I got a butter pecan! picked up a Nottingham Hyperspace with Anna arm, thought I would only be able to get a 294 at that price point. Will see how this one pan out, I have always want to try a Nottingham after owning Oracle Delphi V, Clearaudio Ch...
Another VPI or something else for under $2k
If it is from TW Acustic, I am sure it will be more than $2k new...
Another VPI or something else for under $2k
Thanks for the feedback.Frogman, a friend has a Linn and let me borrowed it for a few weeks, it was fun to hear a different flavor but ultimately I like my VPI.Cmalak, thanks for the link, I am very tempted. I once had a Champion L2 with SME IV.Vi...
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
All speakers were heard in the same room with the same equipments except Extrema and Dyn C5 which were driven with solid state.I had Amati Homage and during the same period also own Guarneri Homage. Guarneri were so "closed in" in comparison I sol...
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
Not trying to start a war, but below is my experience with Esotar after owning EA1, Extrema, Dynaudio C5, Merlin VSM, and Guarneri Homage for 10+ years combined.Esotar is great at producing inner harmonic, it employs large amount of ferrorfluid to...
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
Interesting observation. I also own Memento and had owned Homage before (as well as many other top Sonus Faber models). I thought Memento was more airy, more detail, and much more extended on top. The new tweeter is a much much better tweeter in s...
BAT VK-300K SE vs. Ayre AX-7e integrateds
I am curious too. As a BAT owner, their top line tube gears, I have seriously considering the top line Ayre amp/pre combo but walked away unimpressed after several audition. So my impression was exactly the opposite of Duane.
DaVinci tonearm and azymuth
I would add anything Soundscape Hi Fi said with a grain of sald after spending an hour talking to him in the store.
Best lighting for an audio room
Entrope beat me to it, I also recommend tubes!I have over 40 tubes in my system and my big power tubes glow nice and bright in the dark.
How tall are your speaker stands
Timrhu is right, it depends on the speakers.Generally speaking, I like tweeters to be above my ear level. This usually produces a more spacious sound minus the brightness. Another advantage is higher off the floor and clean up the bass even more.B...
from B&w 805's to Usher be-718 - what to expect?
BE-718 is a definite upgrade from B&W 805. B&W tweeter can sound hard and cold, missing the harmonic richness and details of finer tweeters. I have owned 802N and BE-718 both and 802N only lasted a couple months for me despite its cool loo...
Any problems with MBL101E speakers

Velodyne DD accessory, what do I really need?
thanks for the input. Velodyne doesn't just sell the mic, they will sell the whole kit though ordering time is slow and costly, therefore I am seeking help here to see if anyone has spare they want to unload.
Ribbon tweeters...out of favor these days?
Have never heard of (read of) Selah audio, surprise to see how many speakers they offer for such a young company. maybe too many.
